I'll take Prince across the board...the other two strike out way too much for my liking.

Striking out really doesn't matter.
That being said I would rank them Fielder, Howard, Dunn on both questions. Although I think Howard may have a better season next year, but it'll be close.

that's insane! ryan howard's strikeouts were detrimental to an already anemic philly offense--i can't keep a straight face. who the hell cares about strikeouts? they're better than GIDP.

Ever heard of a productive out BigBoy? Or the fact that the more you put a ball into play, the better chance you have at getting on base?

Prince is my vote. His season last year was unreal and he's the youngest of the group.
Dunn shouldn't even be in the mix with those two, they are head and shoulders above him as players.

Well depending on the situation, a GIDP can also produce a run. Say there are men on the corners with no outs. Then the batter grounds to the 2B; chances are he is going to throw to second trying to get a DP going (hence the GIDP), but because there are no outs, the man on third is able score as any throw would be late after the DP.

And this will contribute one extra run every season.
The answer is Prince Fielder. He's got 4 years on the other guys, which is huge for big guys with old-player skills.

Just for arguements sake, take a look at last years GIDP numbers.....
Dunn - 12
Prince - 9
Howard - 13

I don't know how often it happens, but data suggests that grounding into the DP actually results in fewer runs than if the guy just struck out like an **** and went back to the bench.

Scenario: Man on first and third with no outs.
If you strike out, you have a man on first and third with one out. From here you are expected to score 1.1830 runs on average.
Instead, if you ground into a double play you score a run and now you have two outs and the bases are empty. From here you are expected to score an additional 0.1075 for a total of 1.1075 runs.
There is an advantage of .0755 runs if you just strike out. A pretty insignificant amount, but an advantage nonetheless.
Outs are the most important thing in baseball. Willingly giving them up doesn't make a lot of sense except in lategame situations where a single run can make the difference between a win and a loss.

The Reds are my team and right now Dunn and his 13 million can't buy a hit. He is hitting .083 with no HR's and 2 RBI. I don't know what he did yesterday, but on Monday he went 0-4 with 3 K's, so I would put him at the bottom of the list.
