I'm skeptical that Birdman is ready to contribute immediately to the Hornets epic run... I hope he gets a chance somewhere though...

He'd just be another body, I don't think they'd be relying on him heavily either.

Couple minutes and 6 extra fouls from a big guy off the bench, nothing more.

I think the birdman has a small role on this team provided he gets back in the league.

NOLA.com wrote:Today NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to reinstate former Hornets center/forward Chris Andersen, who served a two-year suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy, two league sources confirmed Monday night.

Andersen, 29, will be re-signed by the Hornets today or Wednesday if he passes a mandatory physical examination.

Andersen, 6 feet 10, was in the second year of a four-year, $13 million contract when he was banned from the league in January 2006 after a failed drug test in Oklahoma City, where the Hornets temporarily relocated post-Hurricane Katrina. Since Andersen previously was with the Hornets, they have exclusive contract rights and have 30 days to make an offer for a minimum of one year, $3.5 million, which would be prorated for the rest of this season. If the Hornets do not extend him a contract offer in 30 days, Andersen would become a free agent.

N.O. to re-sign center if he passes physical

Well it's official. He's been reinstated.

Chris Andersen is set to make his return from a NBA drug suspension after being reinstated by commissioner David Stern on Tuesday.

Just has to pass the physical now, which I'm fairly certain he will.

NOLA.com wrote: The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association granted the request of Chris Andersen to be reinstated on Tuesday morning.

Andersen was banned by the league for two years after testing positive for a prohibited substance under the NBA's Anti-Drug Program on Jan. 27, 2006.

The rights to Andersen belong to the Hornets and they plan to re-sign, pending if he passes a mandatory physical examination.

"We were always more concerned with Chris Andersen the person rather than Chris Andersen the player and are pleased that he has taken the appropriate measures to get himself reinstated by the NBA," Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower said. "We will now begin the process of getting him back on the court and back in a Hornets uniform as quickly as possible."

ESPN Magazine article about Birdman:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3280247

Talks about his new tats as well as other little bits. good read.

ESPN wrote:Despite all the flashy new artwork on his body, Andersen says he's turned over a new leaf for his second turn in the league. For one, he won't be throwing up his birdman sign the next time he gets a dunk.

"I'm not doing the hand gesture no more," he said. "It's business now. I'm out here to help these guys get further than where Charles Barkley predicted us to go."

Hey 2poor, I've always liked your Hornets logo under your username, but I've never been a fan of the Hornets' colors. Could you possibly change the colors of that logo to yellow, black and then something like a silver as the trimary color? I always thought the Hornets shoudl actually have the colors of a Hornet.

Also, congrats on getting Andersen back. He's going to make a huge diference off the bench. Just wish they would've traded for John Salmons.

Rare from the Raptors board made these logos, so you'd have to direct a request like that towards him.

I'd kill for this style logo with the Fleur De Bee symbol in the middle myself. :)

skip ahead to about the 11:20 mark and you'll get to watch the interview TNT had with Birdman, a pretty good one in fact.

NOLA.com wrote:Chris Andersen does not know if he will play tonight against Indiana or Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. But Coach Byron Scott has promised that at some point during the Hornets' six-game road trip, Andersen will play.

Andersen, a 6-foot-10 center, was re-signed earlier this month when the league reinstated him after a two-year ban for violating its anti-drug policy. He has not played in nine consecutive games, but has performed well in practices.

I'm getting a little more anxious to see what he can do out there,'' Scott said. "I like what I've seen in the last four or five practices. Like everyone else on this team, he will get an opportunity.''

Since his first practice, what has been most noticeable about Andersen is his conditioning. During a practice last week, Andersen went through a scrimmage and the required running drills that followed, and he did not appear to be tired although a number of teammates were.

"For the last two years, I just wasn't sitting on the couch passing time,'' Andersen said. "I was in the gym running, six hours a day -- three times a day.But I'll be more impressed once I get on the floor (in a game).''
