I don't have any special attachment to either team, and I really think that Tinsley is going to end up being bought out, but I gave the "trading-the-untradable" challenge a whack.
NOH GETS: Tinsley, Marquis Daniels, Shawne Williams, Travis Deiner
IND GETS: Mike James, Morris Peterson, Rasual Butler
WHY FOR IND? This is a fan-friendly deal were they get out of the Tinsley and Shawne era without having to buy out Tinsley. Its better to get something from the deal rather than nothing. This cuts their roster from sixteen to fifteen. Jarrett Jack and Brandon Rusch joining the team get mroe playing time, but the players they get are competent.
WHY FOR NOH? They take on a little character risk to improve their talent as they try to get past other dominant Western conference Teams and get to the Finals. Right now, Pargo can demand an excessive contract, which will surely cost double next season with the Hornets over the lux. Instead of adding a fortune with a Pargo MLE, this deal actually saves them $7.5 mil in 2009-10, where Chris Paul's extension had already put them over the lux, and even gives them room to keep Wright and Armstrong and avoid lux penalties. They don't flinch at Tinsley's third year because they are not buyers in the 2010 free agent grab.
Rasual Butler $3,630,000 $3,945,000
Mike James $6,244,083 $6,466,600
Mo Peterson $5,592,240 $6,006,480 $6,420,720

Travis.. Diener $1,620,000 $1,740,000

Re: IND-NO
I think I would actually do this, if Tinsley decides he wants to take a back up role. We could use Tinsley and Daniels more so than peterson and Butler, and I think Wright is going to be good enough to be the primary backup wing that can play big minutes at 2-3-4 spots.
We still need a backup PF IMO.

Re: IND-NO
I understand reluctance to take on Tinley, and just about every team would say, "no." The Hornets have a few things going for them though that others do not, like no chance at Summer 2010 Free Agency, use for a talented PG (even though he's dangerous), and a Team that has a chance to win a ring if a Tinsley gamble pays off. Tinsley's character certainly gives him negative value though, so if New Orleans is going to take on this risk, they need to make IND pay.
This deal does that. You move your own bad contracts, you get mroe productive players, and you save a lot of money. In 2009-10 you may now avoid all those lux penalties and get back your lux slice .. perhaps saving the Hornets $16 mil that year alone. The difference in production though may be the key, because that's where titles are won or loss.

Then would you be interested in McRoberts and a 2nd in place of deiner

No, he said they need a backup PF, not a fourth stringer.

How about:
Mike James, Mo Pete, Rasual Butler, Hilton Armstrong, and Melvin Ely
for
Jamaal Tinsley, Marquis Daniels, and Jeff Foster.
