I'll say this, I think Murray was the far better choice between the 2 Hawk guards.

Usage - Young 35%, Murray 25%
Salary - Young 40m, Murray 30m
Control - Young 1y + PO, Murray 4yrs
Defense - Murray

Murphy in for BI replaces CJ as the deep spacing threat -
Murray at point is BI taking 7 3's a game at 36-38%
Murray, Herb, Murphy with some improvement = 2 way players 1-3, so I expect better defense

IMO, NO's need a C to draw his man out but they will go with a defensive rim runner. Would love to see Jonas back with this guard rotation.

Saying Jonas was bad at setting screens is like saying Jonas was bad at rebounding.

He's been an elite screen assist big man his entire career until he got to NO's where he's been called for extremely cheap moving screen violations in large part because the league was trying to get LA in over NO's who have both been fighting for a PI seed the last 3yrs.

Don't believe what I am saying, look at his screen assist numbers pre & post NO's.

Jonas can't set a screen LMAO.

If LA signs Jonas it's going to be funny as hell. Jonas gets the worst whistle I've seen of any player of my 20+ years of watching. If he starts getting a good whistle in LA where he's an excellent FT shooter watch that career 60% efficiency go up.

I can never understand some peoples logic. Man say if you trade CJ for a non spacing C, you'll have the worse shooting lineup.

There's 2 scenarios here after trade Assuming BI is on the out. If you keep & start CJ one of Murphy or Herb will have to come off the bench. If you bring CJ's max off the bench, you might as well include Hawkins rookie scale in trade. NO's rarely played CJ with Murphy & or Hawkins.

To the point of not having CJ starting -

-Murray is BI at point taking 8 APG from 3 at 30 not 50m
-If Herb continues his late season shooting, he's a 40% 3/D option at a bargain 12m
-If Murphy is in for BI, you have a deep spacing threat equal to starting CJ, extended
-Zion max

Not sure where the spacing downgrade is but I can tell you where it's upgraded defensively. Hopefully NO's & Zion are working on diversifying his game.

The key is finding the right fitting C to tie it all in. I'd suggest looking to Boston/Bucks for the example. 1 unicorn, 1 floor spacer & an energy big. The quality depth, mainly because the unicorn is injury prone. Celtics know how important it is their C can stretch the paint, the REASON they went after an injured Prog to replace RW & teams don't zone them like Zion. NO's going after a RW type to start, he doesn't even take 3's, more less make them.

The unicorn is the tough find. IMO Stewart & Reed are solid 4/5 replacements for Nance & good depth options. There's injury concern like Prog but I'd be after Isaac from the Magic & play the 3 by committee. (Isaac, Stewart or Reed & Missi)

Those who think WCJ is a 2 way C, lol, he plays on a Magic team filled with strong defenders & is at the bottom of C's for defense where Isaac sits atop that list. Isaac has injury concerns but of the C's listed, he's the best fitting. If there's enough quality depth, NO's can hopefully make it work DEPTH = Stewart or Reed, Missi, Zellar. If Isaac goes down ... can Stewart or Reed step in.

BI to Orlando for Isaac, Denver/Suns FRP's
CJ, Denver FRP to Detroit for Stewart, cap space

Klay linked to Magic. With NO's BI now linked to a GS in a potential S&T.

BI for Isaac, Moody + ?

I get Green wants to switch defend & play with more pace but letting Jonas walk at a 10m price point, the level of dumb ****, is real.

So, NOP lost Nance, Val and Marshall(who played some minutes at 4), what is the plan?

Murphy most likely moved into starting SF role. BI & or CJ traded for a C, backup 4/5, maybe some cap relief, picks.

Maybe sign - Tyus Jonas

Warriors were rumored to offer Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Chris Paul, and a 1st-round pick for PG.

Wiggins & CP3 are a bit of a salary dump in this trade. 2 young players & pick to offset PG's value/200+ extension. I saw they had interest in BI, how much of this value, they willing to offer for BI?.

I like the idea of CP3 off the bench & vet leader replacement for CJ. PG - (Murray, CP3, Jose)

Moddy would give NO's a trade asset option with Hawkins as the 3pt threat off the bench behind Herb. Kuminga & Murphy SF/PF rotation to replace Naji & Nance

Some combination of CJ/Kuminga/Moody/Hawkins to address the C rotation.

I know there's a near 10m salary difference in the Murray trade. I'm seeing Washinton is looking to S&T Tyus Jonas after signing Jonas to 10m. Is Jones S&T in the expanded deal ?

NO's trade - (BI) for (Barnes, Huerter, Carter, pick)

NO's trade - (CJ, pick) for (Stewart, cap space)

NO's trade - (Huerter, pick) for (Isaac)

Sign - Wiseman

Isaac - Wiseman - Missi - Stewart
Zion - Stewart - Barnes
Murphy - Barnes
Herb - Hawkins - Carter
Murray - Jose - Carter

Signed Wiseman on top of trading for Stewart to backup Isaac due to his injury risk. Like Boston, quality depth to minimize it. Isaac goes down, NO's will still have Stewart, Wiseman & Missi to potentially fill the void.

I see Tillman is a free agent. He would be a good signing.

Cavs fan tossed out the idea of Mobley for Murphy. I kind of like the idea.

Mobley - Zion - BI - Herb - Murray

Murphy's spacing wasn't starting for NO's. So Mobley upgrades Jonas defensively, gives Green his switch defender, who unlike Allen, has 3pt potential. With Murray also upgrading CJ at POA the defense should be top 5. All of Mobley, BI, Herb & Murray capable of punishing open shots & with Mobley, Herb & Murray's defensive upgrades, this team should be able to play with pace & in transition more. Murray the quicker guard than CJ, Mobley the more mobile C than Jonas.

From this point NO's can take the team several different directions

Breakdown BI's extension into a back C, SF, cap space, picks
Trade CJ for a backup 4/5, cap space.

Let me see if I have this right lol.

You traded Daniels & 2 solid projected picks for Murray to replace Herb who's the better defender so CJ can continue to start & replace Daniels off the bench, with Herb :banghead:

For all that is holy, LMFAO.

The whole point of Murray is to pair his defense with Herb to get the team out in transition, play with better pace & not be a complete offensive liability. Where transition offensive is more effective than trying to space half court against the zones they throw at Zion.

If CJ is not willing to be the 6th man, trade him.

NO's fans seem in a panic, lol. I doubt this org is stupid enough to trade Daniels backup 4/5, 2 value picks for another guard, let Jonas walk for 10m with no C, backup 4.5 on roster if they didn't have some things lined up.

I don't care what NO's do. If CJ is starting next yr the offseason was a failure.

Looks like Chicago, Kings trying to work a Derozan S&T with Spurs eating salary for compensation.

Here we go, Spurs trading Graham with compensation to dump his 12m expiring contract. Why use assets to dump a small expiring if you're not planning on taking on big salary & or have no intent to improve ? ...

Spurs look like they about to take on considerable salary. This move could also indicate Spurs might be targeting a PG. With recent rumors of Spurs/Hawks being interested in BI, Kings moving to a Derozan S&T with Spurs eating salary Barnes/Heurter... I can see how the Murray deal can be expanded. For Hawks/Pels to be linked to these rumors.

Kings interest in BI was because they wanted to add length on the wing. Derozan doesn't address that interest. I read Spurs had interest in a Derozan reunion.

The draft, Daniels suggests Hawks may be trying to get their draft rights back.

You let your reliable minute eating center that's helped you win games in injury walk for 10m to sign Theis for 10m, LMFAO.
