What if we tank the season post-Cousins trade?

Post#1 » by Zion Wembanyama » Mon Feb 20, 2017 8:17 am

I was just thinking, why put a protection (top 3) on the pick when it would be expected to AT LEAST make the 8th seed after the deal? My thoughts, there will be a team meeting and we're going to tank this season away now. Silver will do us a "solid" during the lottery and our pick will likely be #3, but #2 if he really wants to show off.

Jrue/Josh Jackson/AD/Boogie
or
Ball/Jrue/AD/Boogie
or
Jrue/PG/AD/Boogie -- Pick + traded for Paul George.
or
Jrue/JimmyBuckets/AD/Boogie -- Pick + traded for Jimmy Butler.

with that protection they were trying to guage how stupid sac is, the kings of course exceeded that expectation with flying colors...

with a team consisting of ad and cuz i wouldn't think about tanking anymore.. i would try and dominate on the get go and aim high as possible.. we can attract free agents maybe even for bargain prices when they see how good this team is/could be.

Yea I agree with this. Pelicans have to do as well as possible. But it's nice having that disaster insurance. You've really got to show Cousins this is where he wants to be so we can talk extension. Not to mention Holliday or....

Other potential free agents.

The way you do that is win and look like a team going places.

Cousins will miss a few games due to his technical foul situation. It's going to be rough to make the playoffs but if the Pelicans pull it all together by the end of the season, they could really scare some teams in the playoffs!

Tanking would be totally unfair to both AD and Boogie. Both those guys have had their fill of losing and are chomping at the bit to start whoopin some ass. This is especially important to Boogie. I'm a firm believer that his issues have been overblown and will subside a great deal when he's part of a winning team. Got to get him off to a start with turning over that new leaf.

BTW, Jazz fan here and I'm totally jealous of the move you guys just made. Congrats.
