GimmeDat wrote:Jaxson is a really great pick imo, the only downside is you would ideally want a floor spacer next to Zion in the front-court. But Hayes has a ton of potential and between he and Zion you guys are going to be the new lob city.

Here is a good long read on him: https://www.thestepien.com/2019/06/18/jaxson-hayes-scouting-report/
The TL;DR...
Pro
- Fluid, explosive athlete with great body control.
- Highly effective rim-runner and paint protector.
- Has the speed and agility to be a top-tier defender in the modern NBA.
- Very good FT shooting indicates potential to add range to his jumper.
Cons
- Offensive feel: Pitiful, anemic assist rate.
- Defensive feel: Fouls too much, steals on the low side.
- Average rebounder for his position, despite physical gifts.
I didn't include "needs to put on weight" because almost every freshman big has to put on weight. His dad was an NFL tight end, he'll be fine there. Hayes is an elite athlete and a mediocre basketball player. The game was too fast for him, even at the college level. But he's also very young, and fairly raw as basketball player; he didn't take it seriously as his main sport until 3-4 years ago.
His floor is a pogo-stick dunker who plays hard for 20 minutes a night. He'll always have a role doing that, even if nothing changes or grows about his game at all. His ceiling is Tyson Chandler with a better frame and a 3-point shot - a beautiful hybrid of old school and new school centers.
