Did Pelicans get a worse trade for AD than earlier?

Earlier before trade deadline, the Lakers offered Ingram, Ball, Hart, also with Kuzma and Zubac.

Now, Pelicans missed out on Kuzma and Zubac. Did Pelicans end up with a worse deal? Do they regret not taking the original offer?

So it's Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Zubac, 2 1sts (years and protections unknown) and eating Hill

vs

Ball, Ingram, Hart, 2 firsts (as favorable as you can get protections), a pick swap, #8, #17, Cleveland first top 10 protected or 2 2nds and eating Hill.

Reducing commonalities....

Kuzma, Zubac, 2 1sts (years and protections unknown)

Or

2 firsts (as favorable as you can get protections), a unprotected pick swap, #8, #17, Cleveland first top 10 protected or 2 2nds

I take the latter every time. That's not even adding the fact that what NO did got them Zion through butterfly effect.

Absolutely agree with Pelifan.

Kuzma is good, but he's never going to be great. He's also going to get paid in a year or two. He's not the kind of player you want in a rebuild. The draft picks are far more valuable to us right now. (Also, Zion will play Kuzma's position. It would be a waste.)

If the Pels trade AD to the Lakers, no way that pick ends up at number 4. Goodbye #8, #17, #35, Cleveland 2020 protected, and Soloman Hill dump.

Butterfly effect indeed.

Much rather have the current deal. Flexibility moving forwards is awesome.

No we dumped Solo and got all those prized future 1sts from LA, along with 3 really good players

And we don't land Zion the other way either

100% this was the deal to have
