Hey, PEL fans.
Just thought I’d drop you a note to let you know what you’re getting with CJ.
CJ is top tier catch and shoot guy with easy 3 point range and crafty ball handling to manufacture a shot in the half court in midrange.
On the down side, he can have tunnel vision and miss passing opportunities when he’s working for a shot and defensively he’s not going to give you much beyond effort.
Off the court he’s a hard working, articulate guy that will never give you cause for concern about his behavior.
You guys will be nasty when ZW gets back!

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

I think the Pelicans fans will be pleasantly surprised that C.J. is a much better basketball player than most of RealGM thinks he is.

I like to CJ's fit with a high usage frontcourt player... it would be best to keep him with an at least competent defender backcourt mate as well

Re: I come in peace
If NO does indeed end up trading Ingram, what do they want back for him? Is it picks or a player package that could keep them competitive\offset the subtraction of Ingram?
LAL gets Brandon Ingram
LAL sends our Rui\DLO & 31' 1st round pick to POR & 29' 1st to NO
NO gets Grant & either Thybulle or Williams + LAL 29' 1st
NO Sends Ingram to LAL, and cap filler, one or more of (Ryan\Earl\Alvarado) + future 1st (25' via LAL? or future top 3 protected 1st, you choose) to POR
POR gets Rui\Dlo & 31' 1st from LAL and some combination of Ryan\Earl\Alvarado + future 1st from NO
POR sends Grant & Thybulle (or Williams) to NO

I'd think if NO's trade BI it would be for a combination of a starting C, depending on the caliber of C, pick compensation & some variation of viable depth, expiring value, cap relief.

Portland can send Ayton instead of Grant.

Re: I come in peace
I really wish the NOLA boards were more active...
ORL sends: Wendell Carter, Cole Anthony, Cory Joseph
NOLA sends: CJ
Given NOLA's state this year (and until DJM returns), they'd probably be happy to get off of CJ's deal. Cole Anthony can cover PG along with Alvarado until Murray is back. WCJ (as well as the pick) is the prize - he can hold down Center and even play next to Missi as he develops. WCJ is also a good fit with Zion as he can defend and spread the floor allowing Zion to play like an overpowering SF, with the ball in his hands. Cole & CoJo will each be an expiring (with a TO), so NOLA might even look at buyouts if desired, but neither will be a long-term salary commitment (and neither will ruin another year of tanking if that's the plan).
* I'd love to go a step further and add KCP and pick(s) for Herb Jones as another variation.

Isn’t Wendell on 3 years with a team option, so he’d essentially be on his lasy year next season?
I’d take that deal and run. I think Orlando has been a prime CJ spot because they have w lot of the things to cover his weaknesses and could really use his shooting.
Herb’s contract is too valuable to move unless it’s for a real asset though.
