ESPN.com wrote:The teams leading their conferences on Feb. 3 will get their coaches the nod for the All-Star Game unless those teams' staffs coached the game last year. In that case the next best teams' coaches go. Phoenix's staff coached the West last season.

At 26-12, the Hornets are in a 3-way tie for the SW division lead and are 1/2 game out of the top spot in the conference.

More game/Hornets notes:

NOLA.com wrote:NO PROBLEMS: Peja Stojakovic, who complained of back stiffness and did not play in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 87-82 victory against the Houston Rockets, played without any problems against the Seattle SuperSonics. After three quarters, Stojakovic played 29 minutes and scored 23 points, hitting four of six 3-pointers and all seven free-throw attempts.

HOME RECORD: The Hornets improved their home record to 11-7 and they are 8-3 against Western Conference teams at the Arena. The Hornets host the Charlotte Bobcats on Friday night.

IN THE POST: Center Tyson Chandler had a difficult defensive matchup against Yao Ming on Sunday. Chandler finished with seven points, his lowest scoring game since Dec. 31, when he had five points against the Toronto Raptors.

Chandler did not have the same problem against Kurt Thomas on Wednesday night. Chandler scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 21 rebounds. Chandler's 17 rebounds in the first half set a franchise record, surpassing 15 by Matt Geiger in 1996.

Chandler leads the NBA in offensive rebounds per game (4.3) and is fourth in rebounds per game (12.0).

BENCH POWER: The Hornets' bench has scored 50 or more points in two of the past three games. They scored a season-high 52 points in Wednesday's 123-92 victory against the Seattle SuperSonics. Jannero Pargo led the Hornets' backups with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 3-of-3 shooting from 3-point range. Bobby Jackson scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting and had six assists. Butler had one of his best performances in several weeks, scoring eight points on 2-of-4 shooting. He played almost eight minutes.

WINNING FORMULA:
The Hornets are 21-1 when leading after the third quarter. They led the Sonics 95-75 at the end of the third quarter. The Hornets scored a season-high 123 points. They are 15-0 when they score at least 100 points. They also grabbed a season-high 53 rebounds.

Why do people act like the Hornets have this such terrible record at home? Granted they've lost 2 more home games than they have road games but it's not like they're 7-11 at home or anything. With this 5 game homestand they should improve on their home record. I don't know why people are making such a big a** deal out of the home record when in fact they have a winning one.

When you're 26-12, it goes without saying that your home AND away records are probably pretty damn good.
