TV/radio: CST, 102.9-FM.

Notable: The Hornets have the best 40-game record in franchise history. . . . The Hornets have won five in a row. . . . New Orleans entered Tuesday leading the Southwest Division standings. In their last four home games, New Orleans has won by an average of 24.5 points. . . . The Hornets are 23-4 when they lead after the first quarter, and they are 17-0 when they score more than 100 points
:o

Portland leads the season series against the Hornets 2-1. Overall, Portland has won seven of its past 10 games. . . . The Trail Blazers are 8-13 on the road, but 17-3 at the Rose Garden, where both of the Hornets' losses against them this season have come. . .

6 in a row sounds good to me...get it done!

NOLA.com wrote:In the past few weeks, Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy has been an avid reader of NBA box scores.

It's how he finds out what players are shooting at a high percentage and what teams are moving along as playoff contenders. But there is one particular team that continues to catch his attention each time he scans the boxes.

"Nobody expected New Orleans to be in first place in the same division with San Antonio and Dallas, and that says a lot," Roy said after Tuesday's practice at the New Orleans Arena. "They're playing great basketball right now. Every time I look at their box scores, they're not just winning -- they winning by 20. They're really hammering teams."

Roy, who has emerged as one of the league's top young players, won't need to see a box score tonight to stay updated on the Hornets' progress. He'll see it firsthand when the Trail Blazers play the Hornets at the Arena in a battle between two of the biggest surprise teams in the Western Conference as the regular season nears the midway point.

If the playoffs started Tuesday, the Hornets (28-12) would be the No. 2 seed in the West. The Trail Blazers (25-16) would be the fourth seed.

The Hornets were expected to be a playoff contender this season, but few thought they could emerge as one of the top teams in the conference like they have achieved so far with wins against Dallas, Denver, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers. New Orleans has beaten the Phoenix Suns twice.

This has to be an insane matchup. Both teams are hot this season in the west. Also this can lead to a "coach of the year" showdown between Nate Mcmillian and Byron Scott, we know that second part of the season will be crucial but so far both of those coaches aswell as Doc Rivers are leaders in this race. I hope Hornets will win this after a huge fight in the New Orleans Arena. Let's go HORNETS!

Portland's a tough, young team but hopefully we can keep our winning streak alive tonight.

Prediction:

Blazers - 94
Hornets - 99

Hornets better come out focused and remain that way for the duration of the game. Don't come out slow like they did against Milwaukee otherwise they'll be in for a long night.

it looks to me like Paul is conserving energy to possibly play more minutes with the second teamers

Pargo has been unconscious so far.

Blake has played great defense on CP3 and is a "top 5 or 6" 3pt shooter; he can rain 3's down on you all night if u leave him open.

Chandler / Prizbilla match-up is really getting physical.

Pretty good game so far.

so with the record of 29-12, are we tied for first place, or all alone, since i guess the suns lost tonight? now thats funny! losing to minny twice without superteammate kg? good for them.

joel still talking trash? did he grow up in Ingelwood or Compton like Tyson? its one thing to talk trash if you're good, its another when you are a bust like Joely there. If KG hates your guts and thinks your a fake "thug" - well....
where was he picked in 2000...cuz i doubt he's living up to his spot?

Roy is amazing. the teams that didn't get him higher made a mistake, but it is what it is.

and is that pete without a headband? lol!

did i write that i loved bowen yet? bowen/pargo are like tyson/paul lite...don't you think? its been a few games in a row that they've connected for dunks.

pargo is a pleasure to watch lately, and didn't everyone feel that once bowen came back, that our bench would get better? not necessarily in coming up with points, but his energy will help out our already good defensive second unit, and he'll get us more chances to score with his hustle.

Ely has helped as well, so its great he's back. once B.Jack comes back (how long will he be out?), and hopefully both hilton and julian "get it" - maybe one solid trade and this team will be really dangerous in the playoffs.

17 games over .500! woot woot!
i'll post more pictures if 2poor doesn't!

This game had me worried, Portland's roasted us so far this year, glad we pulled this one out and are actually winning at home!!!

Also good to win with CP3 having a poor game by his standards.

Also, Phoenix lost to Minnesota, Hello #1 seed in the West!!!

Of course, thread wouldn't be complete without paying homage to Ryan "MONSTA JAMZ" Bowen:

Haven't found a picture of his throwdown yet, but oh did it happen and oh was it sweet. Turning point in the game really, Hornets went up 3 at that point and never looked back.

what about peja's jam? i'll look for a pic with that! peja with a dunk - means peja is back!

since no one answered my questions - i guess we are first in the west by atleast percentage!

this thread can be dead sometimes. glad i checked out hornetsreport.com. good group there.
