Just one per game? How's that? He came in the NBA as a shotblocker, what happened? He's not challenging shots?

That's because David West has been blocking them.

But seriously yes, his blocks are down this season. He's still that presence in the paint that alters shots though. Altering more shots leads to having to block less shots.

It's hard to block shots when opposing players know you as a shot blocker. Most players tend to switch their shots up when going up against a "shot blocker". The block shot stat is way overrated.

no, lets no defend him. there are a lot of shot blockers out there, so ppl alter their shots when going against them, but they still find a way to block multiple shots.

its on tyson on this one!

Early in his career, he went for blocks every time and battled foul trouble. Now he uses position to challege shots and doesn't have much foul trouble anymore. He's grown as a player, block stats don't matter anymore.

I thought he was awful tonight. He needed to be a major factor in this game, and he was a step slow all game. The Spurs broadcast team highlighted two or three different pick and roll situations where his failure to either switch or hustle back and protect the rim led to easy baskets. And those were just the ones they pointed out.
