..Brandon Bass.

Averaged 11pts 7rebs against us in the playoffs last year, 8pts 4 rebs in the regular season, though he got better throughout the year. Is now tearing up the preseason, is a lock to backup Dirk for the upcoming year....

Is it too much to say that, in hindsight, he could have been a vital piece to the championship puzzle for New Orleans?

If so, why/how did we not see this kids potential?

How did I know this would be about Bass? :lol:

He's gone and I don't think he'll be back. Maybe if he had did what was asked of him as a Hornet instead of doing his own thing, he might still be one. Scott doesn't freely give the keys to rookies not named Chris Paul so it didn't work out. I like Bass and wish it would've worked out but it didn't so it's time to stop crying over spilled milk. Seriously.

The question was, though, IF we hadnt cut him loose and hed developed the way he has, would you be more confident the Hornets could get it done this year?

ehhhh, it was always pretty clear that Bass was a classic "change of scenery" guy. I expected him to do as well as he did in Dallas because he was allowed to play the style that suited his strengths.

Scott wanted him to be a defensive banger, Bass still likes to live out the SF in him that is hiding in that huge frame. I read an interesting article about Scott (as it related to Bass) and it was clear that they had just reached a point where Bass wouldn't do was Byron wanted and Byron wouldn't let Bass do what he wanted out there. Byron is big on "shaping" his team to his likeness, and well, so far so good.

Instead of mulling over Bass, we should be praying that Hilton isn't going to go the same route.

As for the original question, yeah, I suppose if we ignore everything else and look at the raw production, it'd be nice to have Bass to make the frontcourt deeper...and while we're at it, wouldn't it be nice to see Kobe playing alongside CP?
