Trade for Jeff Weaver and win the World Series!

That's what the Cardinals did last year...your team can too!
Another rotational pitcher would be nice since the rotation absolutely blows, but if you want to sacrifice a young guy to win a WS (preferably a P, although the Mariners will blow his arm out in AAA), be our guest.

I thought Weaver was released by the Angels and the Cardinals signed him.
Good luck getting anybody for Weaver though.

Hey, when you give up nothing for him, it's still a good trade!

No, seriously, someone save us.

Fine the Brewers offer Elmer Dessens and a hit on Bill Bavasi.

I bet you could trick Bill Bavasi into overpaying for Weaver.
Oh, wait...

Best-case scenario: M's eat the vast majority of the $8 million they owe Weaver -- maybe $7 million of it -- and find a team that is willing to take a flyer on Weaver for $1 million and a low-minors middle reliever or utility infield prospect. Probably an NL team. With a big ballpark.
Now I'd like to offer a similar deal for Horacio Ramirez.
And for Miguel Batista, similar terms apply, except that we're not eating as much of his salary.
Attention K-Mart shoppers! There's a blue light special on crappy Mariner starting pitchers!

How come it didn't work for the Yankees in 2003?

At least he only overpaid him for one year.
