Texas Offseason

Post#1 » by alorenzana » Fri Oct 12, 2007 3:14 pm

All indications are that A-Rod is opting out so..the remaining 21 million over three years that they would save would let them do this...

1st-Trade Hank Blaylock, David Murphy, Brandon Mcarthy, Joaquin Arias to Minn. for Santana and sign him to a 7 year $175 Million contract which would actually be 154 million if you calculate the Arod money.

2nd-Sign Tori Hunter or Aaron Rowand to rome Center for Tex, this will probably take 6 years for 75 million or roughly around that ball park.

3rd- Trade for Ken Griffey Jr. to play any of the corner outfield positions

Lineup

Kinsler 2b
Young SS
Griffey RF
Salty C
Botts DH
Hunter or Rowand CF
Byrd LF
Metcalf 3b
Wilkerson 1b

Rotation

Santana
Millwood
Padilla
Gabbard
Volquez

Benoit
Eyre
Littleton
Francisco
Otsuka
Wilson

Totally. Just make sure that when you're done making these deals, you save the game to your memory card. You wouldn't want to have to go through making these deals all over again.

If only Hicks would have let Daniels get this creative and spendy. With Volquez and Otsuka gone, will have to fill other holes.

Why so they could finish 2nd instead of 3rd? Getting Bedard wouldn't have mattered. The Rangers need to rebuild.

I saw bedard handcuff rangers the past season. The ideal pitcher for The Ballpark is a hard throwing lefty. How does that not help?

Because he's only under contract for two more seasons. Unless you're damned sure you can sign him to a long-term deal, he's only marginally helping this team in the short run. Plus the Rangers finally have a kick-ass farm; why bet it against Bedard?

we'd actually have money freed up for him b/c padilla is a f/a that year and if milwood doesnt fulfill parts of his contract he's also a f/a in '09

that said im curious what they'd ask for if we were to trade for bedard, surely andrus would be a goner (him or saltalamacchia) and then eric hurley or matt harrison and one or 2 lower guys and one of our relievers like joaquin benoit or frank francisco

All would have been worth it.
