I don't see Hosmer dropping out of the top 10. Teams are pretty intent on blowing up this slotting system this year and if Alvarez is gone at 3, the Royals have a mega hard on for Hosmer so he's their pick.

Word last night was that Posey is looking for a $12 million bonus. No, that is not a mistake, twelve million. He wants to absolutely blow Wieters record out of the water. If I am Tampa, I'd consider taking him and forcing him to accept a reasonable offer and if he doesn't take it, they get the #2 overall pick next year. Of course, I don't really like Posey at 1:1, I'd rather take Beckman but if you are intent on taking Posey, who profiles as an above average starting catcher, first overall, call his bluff. The new draft compensation system makes it a lot easier to swallow. Tampa has the best system in baseball to begin with and next year's draft has some early indications of being superior to this year's so I don't see an issue. mahalo

The sox did exactly what i wanted. They picked Ryan Westmoreland and landed a couple of great prospects that fell like a rock. In the 20th round (pick 622) they picked up Alex Meyer, RHP. He was ranked by Baseball America as the #25 overall prospect. His agent is Scott Boras. They also picked up Efrin Oropesa, 1B. They got him in the 24th round (pick 742). Oropesa was ranked as the #108 overall prospect by BA.
