Who is Jack Cust?

Post#1 » by xAIRNESSx » Mon May 14, 2007 12:54 am

Saw him on the waiver wire. This guy just started playing last week for Oakland and is 7 for 22, batting .318 with 5 homers. That's pretty impressive, but is this guy still going to play when the A's get healthy?

Cust is the DH due to Piazza's injury. Piazza is slated to come back in early June but if Cust keeps hitting like this, I'm sure the A's will find a way to get him in the lineup like Josh Hamilton's situation with the Reds. Pick him up now while he's hot.

Jack Cust is only the greatest player ever to play the game, just nobody knows it yet. This dude had a .467 OBP% in AAA last season.
BEAST.

His batting average is going to plummet to about .240-.250 soon but the power is for real. I don't think he has any long-term fantasy value, but he has some until Piazza is back, I guess.

Cust has always had the power, just never really got a chance to prove it for a season. Besides power he adds very little to the team. Might be able to put up some numbers while Piazza is down.

just power? cust has an eye so good, its almost to a fault.

Cust had 144 walks in the PCL last year. The second place guy had 78.
