Re: 2020 MLB Dynasty League - FA draft done, now we wait ...

Post#181 » by insfo » Sun Jul 19, 2020 12:16 am

I got pulled into this league that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, but the concept intrigues me. Let me know if you guys would want to try something like this. Might be too late for this year, but anyway here is the basics

1. Draft consists of 6 rounds - all offline. Draft snakes.
2. The first round, every team picks an AL franchise and in the second an NL franchise. Once picked, you own every single player (major/minor/just drafted) of those 2 franchises you drafted.
3. Rounds 3-6, you start picking players from all the franchises not picked in the franchise draft. So at the end you’ll have 2 franchises and 4 additional players.
4. You are free to drop or trade those 4 players, but at all times you cannot go beyond 4. If picking someone from free agency, and that player in not from one of your 2 franchises, you will have to drop one of your 4 rostered non-franchise players. Trades cannot end up with one team having 5 or more non-franchise players.
5. No limits on add/drops, so you will get ahead by strategically moving players in and out of your lineup.
6. At the end of year, you keep one of your franchises, and we do rounds 2 through 6 again, each picking a franchise from the other conference as their keeper conference and a set of 4 new players from the undrafted/unkept franchises

Thoughts?

On second thoughts, he had an open IL slot, so added Keller directly there and unlocked Kbend4's roster.

Yeah, has been a bad year for injuries. But Bart should be a solid bet to stay up given that Posey is pretty much semi-retired at this point.

I do believe Justus Sheffield is on my minor league roster and should not be on Bacon's.

You don't have Peralta on your roster. Hilliard is still a FA, so feel free to make the add/drop yourself or let me know whom you'd like to drop

Given that we are on the last week of the season, let's just say that the following players need to be picked before next season starts.

1. Kyle Wright - OldNo7
2. Carter Kieboom - OldNo7

Kbend4 has an open N/A slot, so I'll just add Hilliard to his roster manually. Evan White & Alec Bohm have been added to their respective rosters (thanks Gyro & Benny!). So we are all set for this year.

And looks like we will crown a new champion this Sunday after our only remaining past winner in TyCobb was eliminated by yog7711 :o. Identical 7-3 semifinal scores, but as you can see below both matchups were very close and could have gone either way.

    insfo-Angel
    1) won AVG by 0.010 (.276 to .266)
    2) won SAVES by 1 (1 to 0) and somehow Angel did not get any saves between Melancon, Holland & Crichton
    3) won WHIP by 0.15 (1.18 to 1.33) and this was with me benching pitchers in an effort to save this category. And this was a lot closer before Garcia imploded.

    yog7711-TyCobb
    1. won WINS by 2. Both team had great starting pitching (Yog with Flaherty/Alcantara/Lamet and Ty with Scherzer/Darvish/Yarborough/Minor) going into the last day with a 4-4 tie. Somehow Ty could not get a single win out of that while Yog got 2
    2. won Ks by 2. Wow, this is almost within the margin of error! Might have been handicapped by Scherzer going in a 7 inning double-header rather than a full game where he might have had an extra inning or 2.
    3. won WHIP by 0.07 (1.00 to 1.07). Again, it all came down to the last day, and maybe Minor's contribution was all it took for Ty to lose this category.

Both matchups could have gone either way, that was a tough semifinal round. Yog7711, all the best this week!
