Use WW on E.Chavez?

Post#1 » by ManualRam » Sun Apr 8, 2007 2:52 pm

12 tm, 25 man roster, 6x6 roto (OBP and SLG%, no BA)

i currently have the #7 priority in a pretty active league (folks arent scared to burn their WW priority). my weakest bat is my 3B, where i am currently starting Chad Tracy. someone just dropped Eric Chavez , should i pick him up? id be dropping kevin kouzmanoff (non-keeper league).
any A's fans know if hes still suffering from the wrist injuries that plagued him all last yr?
i think KK will have a solid yr and contend for NL ROY, but hes just in a bad batting slot right now on one of the worst offenses in baseball.
another option to get some depth at 3B is to pick up Aki Iwamura who just cleared waivers today.

Pick up Iwamura who is on the rise. Chavez is a decent option but doesn't hit for average and is probably on the decline. Chavez is a good 20 HR guy.....but nothing else.

Chad Tracy is your weakest spot? It sounds like you're going to win the league. Yeah, drop Kouzmanoff for Iwamura or Chavez. I like Kouz a lot, but he's playing in PETCO. Go with Iwamura probably.

i shouldve said my weakest STARTING bat (relative to position) is my 3B, who happened to be chad tracy and hes hitting cleanup for the d-backs....hehehe
i went ahead and picked up iwamura for kouzmanoff.
BTW what do yall project for both iwamura and chavez? iwamura's got the benefit of a more productive lineup and better ballparks (both home and division), but he bats 6th (albeit ahead of upton who looks like he might finally breakout and dukes) and lacks experience. chavez sometimes bats cleanup, but mostly 5th behind piazza and has the experience and track record. anybody know if hes still having wrist problems?
starting bats are now
C johjima
1B delgado
2B kendrick
3B tracy
SS m.young
OF beltran
OF baldelli
OF JD drew
Util Hafner
bench:m. jacobs, a.kearns, a. iwamura, l. overbay
currently trying to trade one of my 1Bs for SBs.

Tracy is a very good 3B. He's on the waiver in one of my leagues but I picked up Upton over him.

yeah tracy is decent. he is batting cleanup vs righties for the d-backs so his numbers should be much better this yr (especially with gonzo, green and counsell gone). i just like to have depth at my weaker positions cuz i like to play matchups in daily transaction leagues like this one.

upton's cool, i like his 30+ SB potential and 2B eligiblity (which should be coming this week) but i dont think he'll ever move up in the batting order high enough to score or drive in many runs this yr. at least, not nearly as much as tracy will IMO.

I'm going to see how Upton does in the next 2 weeks or so....If he sucks I will get Tracy. Can't believe someone dropped Tracy.
