I'll let Benny have Hu, but I'm keeping 11 prospects, until I call Maybin up which is like a month into the season. Ok, sounds fair.

Such bastards.

My team is going to destroy this year and I got the second and third most talented players from this year's draft that could be in the majors starting next season. I think I'm doing alright. mahalo

When you saw him pitch what did your scouting tell you about him? He probably will be in majors by next year, but thats only because the Tigers push their prospects and he's on a major league deal.

If by fine you mean below average. Not saying I don't like him, because what he did last season was damn impressive. Curious what did you think about him last year at this time?

That Porcello is a generational talent capable of being one of the best pitchers in baseball when he first steps on a major league mound.

I didn't know what to think of Lowrie last year other than that he was a SS who hit really well in college and then kinda didn't as he moved up the ladder. And then he mashed this year.

His glove is at least average. At least what I've seen this spring and a couple games last year. Which obviously isn't much but he's not bad there.

Also, what the hell are you talking about Setterlund? 15 HR, 35 doubles, 5 triples is fantastic for a short stop. Slap hitter? Willy Taveras, Juan Pierre, Brad Ausmus, Jason Kendall, David Eckstein, these are slap hitters. Pedroia is gonna knock 50-60 extra base hits. That's twice as many as a guy like Pierre will knock over a full season and a ton of his are the result of speed, not that it makes them any less valuable of course.

Stay in Spain.

Your slap hitter Ichiro has had 50 extra base hits several times.

Probably at least Carlos Gomez man. Why else would kg2005 sacrifice the option to draft the couple of formidable Twins prospects still on the board.

I'll bite.

He's not a slap hitter.

Isn't generational suppose to be at least 20 years? Not trying to be a smartass, just making sure.

Also, Price and Kershaw are lefties that can hit the high 90's with there fastball, Price has a killer slider, while Kershaw a killer curve. (There was a video of Kershaw's curve against Sean Casey about a week ago on youtube that was just sick but MLB took it down.) Both Buchholz and Joba have already dominated MLB hitters. Like I said I would likely have Porcello fifth pitcher. Now I honestly don't know what BA is thinking putting the other guys ahead of him. Also, I doubt Porcello is one of the best pitchers if indeed he is pitching in the bigs by next year.

Extra credit a little blurb about J. Parker on BA top 100:
0: Pitchers in the 2007 draft who had a more electric fastball than Parker's 93-97 mph heater.

So, Porcello's fastball likely isn't even better than Parkers, although Porcello has more projection in him. Both have a great breaking pitch, slider for Porcello and curve for Parker. By the way, most of these blurbs by BA is by far the worst thing I've had to read about players.

Ty Cobb: 10th all time in XBH with 1,136. Tony Gwynn had more than 50 XBH in almost all of his prime seasons. Pete Rose had like at least 55 XBH in all his prime years. Rod Carew had 68 XBH in his MVP year. So, wait... I thought these slap hitters were only going for 20 doubles, 3 triples and 5 home runs/season?

Then what is your definition of a slap hitter Sett? What exactly does Juan Pierre and Dustin Pedroia have in common with their approach at the plate other than the fact that neither are huge HR hitters? If you watch the two at bat, you can see a considerable difference in style, mechanics, and approach. All Pierre is doing is trying to make contact. If he hits is moderately well and gets one in the gap, there is a double or triple because of his speed. When Dustin gets a double or triple, it's because he stung the ball into the gap and he isn't relying on his blazing speed to beat the fielder's throw to second. Dustin is hardly a slap hitter. mahalo

By my mind the definition of a slap hitter is a batter who doesn't try to hit the ball out of the ballpark. If it happens, good for him, but he's going to focus more on locating the ball into a gap. Whether the get some pop on the ball every couple of hits doesn't define the hitter so much to me as the intention behind the at-bat, and the intention of a slap hitter to locate their hits and slap it into the gap in the defense.

Pedroia tries to hit the ball out of the park.

This argument is lame, anyway. I think everyone is just arguing over semantics at this point.

Play the game first then you'll know what a slap hitter is. Pedroia is not a slap hitter. Michael Young is one of the best hitters in baseball today, yet watch his swing. Does he look like he's slapping at the ball? No. He hits the ball hard every single time. Same with Pedroia.

Because you can never have enough hard throwing, weed smoking young pitchers, I take Jeremy Jeffress on a lark in the third round.

Which Duran is that? I saw a German Duran in the Rangers system playing second, is that the same guy?

Ryan Kalish, OF, Boston.
