Don't know if I'm going to get another pick so I've got to take this guy.

We can talk about changing the system if it has a couple other people miffed as well. As much as I hate to say this, part of it was just good managing by Bigboy to acquire extra first rounders and get that shot at #1 because the pick was supposed to be Chach's. We made a decision a long time ago though that we weren't going to punish success by having the draft system be random (prospects) or in your control (ROOK/FA goes by waiver priority), so you have to keep in mind whether we want to change that precedent.

If they get them by trading picks I salute them, I just feel bad that the rich always get richer and the bottom guys have an even tougher hill to climb.

I don't care where I'm at, cause I have fairly good knowledge of sleepers and such. Just feel bad for the 9-12 ranked guys.

don't make it seem like I have no chance just because I'm new...it might be tougher in the beginning but I believe I can compete...I don't need the pity

So hopefully the rules can get changed for next season, cause I feel like we should just write off the season for the new guys since they basically have no chance.

Yeah I don't know why Ty is saying that. We should have had two of the new guys makes the playoffs last year but Kaz fell out in the last week or two (although I think he still had a winning record). Bigboy was at one point clearly the crappiest team in the league, now he's the reigning champion and probably has the most talented team. Yeah, by chance, the expansion managers didn't do well in the lottery but that shouldn't be a huge determining factor because after Ackley who knows about the prospects available and it's what you make of it. I would advise though to the new guys that the prospect draft is important and if you go away from BPA and pick a personal favorite (for example, Zach Stewart), you need to make it up with a gem or two (i.e. Drabek, Withrow).

It has nothing to do with the new guys at all. It just has to do with whoever places last in the league. The gap between the #1 prospect and the #5 prospect is usually a huge difference. The last place team is last because of a lack of talent, so they should get first dibs on the best available...you know? Just like in real life.

Not sure about the hate on Stewart. Sickels ranked him ahead of Drabek for the Jays #2 prospect this year. Last year according to MiLB.com he had a 1.89 ERA in 34 games, 14 of which were starts, and 93 K for 105 IP.

Glad you liked my gems though

Are you saying just the worst record gets the top pick or that we go completely by record?

And I'm not hating on Stewart, I think he can be a nice player, it's just that there were several more highly regarded guys on the board. Somewhere around right now is where he'd probably go in a Blue Jay-fanless draft I'd say. Withrow is probably going to be a stud though.
