Here is my take. I have to go back and find the discussion when we did this, but I think the N/A spot was originally added for precisesly this reason. So teams should make a choice on whether they want to carry the next big prospect that they managed to snag off the WW the previous season or the prospect from their minor league system that got sent down. Plus, it becomes a nightmare to track who gets picked up as a FA on Yahoo and make sure they don't get sent down to the minors on RealGM. As it is, everything is a bit quirky with how we are hoarding undrafted prospects on Yahoo, so would get more difficult to track if we allow demotions.

So I would suggest leaving things as is. Others feel free to chime in while I go dig up old threads.

I don't really agree. You could then do away with NA slots. If you have a player bouncing up and down between the farm and MLB you should be able to move him accordingly while he occupied one of your minor sports. We shouldn't be forced to keep a guy on ML roster if he has been sent down.

It pains me to say this, but I agree with Nick. If one of my prospects gets demoted either due to poor performance or to rehab an injury, I'd like to keep the player without having to go with a short bench. That being said, I can imagine how difficult it would be to keep track of how the NA spot is being used.

It pains me to say this, but I agree with Nick. we do need to focus on the topic of people being able to hoard prospects that haven't been drafted yet or at worse didn't even have chance to get drafted.....

last year yahoo did a huge prospect dump of prospects that at the time of the draft weren't even drafted to their mlb teams so couldn't be drafted to our minor league rosters. Some people were quick and picked couple up.. Besides it giving competitive advent just doesn't feel right.(not sure what rest of you think about this)

Angel Strike, we were always allowed to pick up undrafted prospects on Yahoo. The only difference is that we used to have to waste a roster spot on someone who could be years away, so for multiple years. Now having a N/A spot where we can hold said player after the first year might be causing more folks to take chance on a prospect.

There are 2 things we can do
1) Keep things as is - rules on first page
2) Remove the N/A altogether. Allow demotions to minor league roster for anyone still prospect eligible and who was originally on the minor league roster and promoted by the same team. This would not allow anyone who was a prospect, dropped (or promoted and dropped) to be picked back up and demoted to the minor league roster. So the only ones eligible would be everyone on a minor league roster at the end of this year's prospect draft + anyone who was is prospect eligible according to the rule specified above.

Should we put this to a vote? I'm ok with either, but definitely don't want to do a combination.

also there should be some kind of loto protection for teams that are bad. like top 5 team shouldnt be able to get anything better then 5th pick. a team not making the playoffs shouldnt get worse then a top 5 pick
