This is why I can't take the prospect system we got. The rules need to be enforced. I know it's a lot of work sett, but if it's too much just get rid of the prospect system all together. Or still have it and once the player gets called up to the major league level a move has to be made. Although I do say if the player than gets sent back down you should be allowed to release and still have his rights.

Yes, I did delete the two posts before Ty's. I'm going to try to deal with this situation in private.

Re: 2008 Dynasty League Thread (Prospect draft complete!)
I've gotten mostly positive feedback from other managers and there usually isn't much back and forth with my trade offers. You're the only one who really haggles much with me and that's why half the time I cancel my trade offers to you because I realize I'm wasting my time.
Ty had a hard-on for Kazmir earlier in the year and he wanted Wieters so it's not like I'm pulling stuff out of my ass. Ty would be getting an ace in Kazmir and THE best prospect, regardless of position, in Wieters. The only player you can possibly argue is better than Wieters is Price and he may get called up very soon. And yes, Kazmir has only thrown 200 innings once but he has had 4 full big league seasons. Are you really going to hold it against him that he was in the big leagues to stay at 21 and the Rays wanted to limit his innings when he was younger? He's had some time off with injuries but the Rays have also been very conservative in bringing him back so that he does come back at full strength. He's also made 30 starts twice in those four big league seasons (I'm including this year and how he probably won't get 10 more starts the rest of the way). He has more strikeouts than walks, he's passing through the injury nexus as we speak with no major injuries and he is the ace of the youngest team in baseball that looks destined for the playoffs the next decade. Maybe Ty loses something in the short term but he has some stars at the corners in Gordon and Loney and he'd lose a bit in the short term between McCann and Wieters but by Opening Day 2010, Wieters and McCann could very well be neck and neck for best offensive catcher in baseball.
I agree that something with the prospect system needs to be changed. I would like a time limit on how long they can remain in the minors. For instance, extend the "waiting period" we currently have and give a manager a month to pick up a prospect and if they don't do so, that prospect becomes a FA and any manager can pick them up. This will force managers like BG, who's team is clearly out of it, to check in and try to remain competitive and maintain a watch on their roster and minors otherwise they could lose their minor league players. And there is no warning from the commish, it's your responsibility to track your own prospects. mahalo

Re: 2008 Dynasty League Thread (Prospect draft complete!)
I would like to see SportsWorld and KG replaced. BG too since he doesn't even post in here anymore. We really need to find three people who are actually active and we need some other managers to try to be a little more active.
Bigboy you better stay and not pus out, especially since people were trying to deal with you but you weren't around.
Also, Chachie, I want Wieters. Kazmir, yes, I did used to want him really bad, but that was before Volquez emerged and nearly all of my other pitchers. If I'm giving up Wright, and I want some young players with potential.

I think I'm going to send out a big email tonight. I'm replacing SportsWorld, KG and BG, yes. I'll include more details in the email.

Re: 2008 Dynasty League Thread (Prospect draft complete!)
That's understandable. Kazmir is only 24, just remember that. And Volquez is pretty high in PAP this season and Dusty is his manager, just keep that in mind. A trade can't be completed until the off-season so we have plenty of time to bounce stuff off one another. I'll see if I can come up with something.
Sett, what do you think about changing the prospect status/retention? Having a longer, hard time limit to pick someone up or they become a FA could open up the free agent market a bit. mahalo

Okay, cool. I enjoy your time and enjoy doing business with you. Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Mr. Chach.
How about, we have a minor league system AND a college system. Like 10 minor leaguers and 10 players who are in college. That'd be sick.

Haha, I don't think so Ty. Right now we're still trying to find the balance between the people who love the minor league system and the people who hate it.

I like the idea of studcrackers. I think we should all do some research (me specifically) and come up with three guys we're certain will be devoted to the league.

Re: 2008 Dynasty League Thread (Prospect draft complete!)
A copy of the email I sent out to everyone in case the emails I'm using are old or something.
Alright everyone, it looks like we're at an important time in this league. We're sort of at a crossroads in terms of the course that we're going to go in the future. Right now we have 9 active members and 3 basically inactive members. So, as a result, the status I'd like to achieve (as being the most competitive fantasy baseball league on RealGM) is in jeopardy. I, for one, am ready to pledge my allegiance toward bringing this league back to the fun days that we used to have, the active, intelligent fantasy conversation and competition.
So, in order to get back there, I'm dropping BG, KG and Sportsworld from the league. I talked to KG and he said he was ready to leave and that he wished us the best and the other two are just so inactive I couldn't get a response. We're bringing in three new managers and I'm going to do my damnedest to ensure that they're all as active as TyCobb (just an example).
Because KG has by far the best team, I'm planning on doing a dispersal draft in which the players from those three teams just go into a big pool and the three new managers pick their players from there. That way we'll have something fun to watch and the new managers will pick their teams to an extent.
I'd love to hear some feedback in the thread or by emailing me back what you guys think of this idea. I'm behind it as long as everyone else is cool with it.
A second issue I wanted to bring up is the rule about graduated prospects. I think it's been a source of frustration for years where people don't know if/when someone loses ownership of a prospect that they were negligent with and didn't pick up. Chach brought up an interesting idea where the player is free after a month of graduating and not being picked up. We can talk about that later but, in short, I just wanted to know if everyone is in agreement that this rule needs to be changed so things are clearer?
Hope to hear from everyone soon.

Yup, I like the idea of putting those three teams into a pool where three new managers have to choose from. ALSO, I'd like to see whoever is currently a free agent to be added into that pool of players for the new managers to choose from. They can have first dibs of players on the FA market.

That's an interesting idea, although it requires teams waiving their ROOK/FA Draft choice. It might be hard to convince whoever has the top waiver priority if (I don't have a good knowledge of the market but) another Dice-K comes over. But we'll see, maybe something can be worked out.

Watcha talkin bout Cobb?
People implies plural. And you know you wouldn't have been able to answer it either if it was on a weekend. And why's that even matter?

Post in the other thread (which I'm unstickying so there won't be any more confusion.
Benny Blanco wrote:I saw the email about this league and really hope we can keep it going. Yes, people who are not active should be replaced. But we should be careful about not penalizing those of us who are active and remain competitive. I don't think we should have to lose our players, as some of us have spent several years building teams we are happy with.
I suggest we take the teams that will be reassigned, make all the players on those teams available for an expansion draft for the three replacement managers. I just hope we won't have to put too many players from the teams that are active up for an expansion draft.
