The Worthlessness that is Lance Berkman...

Post#1 » by SSUBluesman » Tue Jun 5, 2007 5:37 pm

Why does this guy suck? I have an offer on the table to give me Berkman for Russell Martin. I already have Victor Martinez (I picked up Martin when Vic was injured early in the year) at C, and could use a power hitting OF like Berkman...if he actually starts hitting for power. I don't know what's wrong with Berkman, and thus if it's worth taking a risk on him. I would like to move Martin, because I don't have much room for him...

C-Vic
1B-Ryan Howard

3B-David Wright
UTIL-Chipper Jones (when he's off the DL)

There's no real place to put him once Chipper is off the DL. Is it worth taking the chance on Berkman, or could I get more for Martin? What is it that's even wrong with Berkman, why is he hitting like Sean Burroughs?

Wait, you can get Berkman for Russell Martin, and you already have Victor Martinez?

Yes please.

So you guys think I should do it then? There is another team that desperately needs a catcher, and has Crawford and Holliday as OF'ers. I was thinking of Holliday, the only problem is the team owner has no concept of fair trades and tries to scam everyone.

One thing about Berkman I noticed is that for the past 5-6 years, he's a had a great year followed by a down year...this would be his down year.

Just trade for the guy. Berkman will pick it up.

I don't know, I think you should trade him. If I were you I would try to target Chris Young and Jermaine Dye for him.
