In my fantasy league, I was just offered Matt Holliday and Ryan Braun for A-Rod and Delmon Young. Initially, I considered A-Rod untouchable, but do you guys think I should pull the trigger on this deal?

Okay, this was the final trade.
Alex Rodriguez
Delmon Young
Mike Napoli
Ryan Church
FOR
Matt Holliday
Ryan Braun
Joe Mauer
Jacoby Ellsbury
I think I won the trade by quite a bit now. What do you guys think?

I agree. Matt Holliday is a top 5 fantasy guy, Braun is a first rounder and in only his second year, Mauer is great if healthy, and Ellsbury should win the starting CF job and steal a ton of bases with good average.
It's tough to give up A-rod, but he was the only really good player you gave up. Young isn't great yet and the other two aren't worth much at all.
Good trade.

One is projected to hit over 45HR in a lot of places, the other is an MVP candidate who hits .335/35/130. If you think Young is ready to do either of those, THIS YEAR, you are on a lot of non-prescription drugs.

I'm sure Mauer wasn't on the table when he created the thread.
Duh.
I don't like giving up AROD, but I think you did pretty well in the trade.

It's a marginally even trade. He's getting the best player of the group in ARod and some good potential. (Although, despite Conte

Delmon Young will now hit in front of Morneau, Mauer etc... hell have More HR, MORE rbi's and can hit over .300 for avg.
So id predict he starts putting up All star Numbers

Its a good thing RealGM doesnt have random drug testing, or Lconte would be suspended.

im not convinced that braun is the real deal... remember 2 years ago, everyone thought bill hall was the next biggest thing in milwaukee after slugging 35HR and 85RBI or something... and how did he fair last year? Braun is going to be doing the exact same thing Hall did after his break out year, move to the outfield. how will he fair? i dunno i cant predict the future, i am just not convinced Braun is the real deal yet. I hope he is. but im not so sure yet.
and im not saying holiday isnt a great player. but i think with Young ur lookin at someone who potentially will hit .300 for avg, give u 90RBI and give u 25-30HR in a line up with 2 All Star Caliber Players, in Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer. Plus having Speed Carlos Gomez on base before him will allow him to swing freely once Gomez steals bases at will.

You arent willing to be sold on a great young masher like Braun because you cant predict the future, but you are willing to be sold on a young decent hitter because you can predict the future? Make up your mind and stop trying to fit answers that justify your posts.

Honestly, that final trade offer in my opinion is borderline vetoeable (sp?)
The initial offer was MORE than enough IMO.
Holliday is elite, and Braun is on the cusp, only because last season MIGHT be an anomally (sp?)
Anyways you easily got the better end overall, so I guess it was a good thing you waited it out.
Also, I like Delmon Young a lot and drafted him a few times, but no way is he even close to Holliday/Braun standards... he's at least 1 or 2 tiers below.

im plainly stating that im not sure Braun Merits his top 16 pick in almost ever fantasy draft. And that i think Braun will have Similar Numbers to what Delmon Young has this year, IMO.
Braun put up good numbers last year, and i reaped the benefits of that last year. but as a fantasy owner i refused to use a top 16 pick on him. Im not the only one with those feelings, i have read alot of of "Expert" articles that worry about Taking Braun so high because they 2 worry last years amazing numbers werent what we should expect from Braun all the time, nor should we expect it with him moving to the outfield.
and as a fantasy stand point Trading the Best 3b in the game, for a rising OF prospect who could easily hit 25-30HR, get u 90RBI and hit atleast .300avg, for 2 OutFielders one being a MVP canidate, but must follow up a spectacular season, with another in order for many not to jump off his bandwagon, and a Young Converted OF, already getting forced to move to the outfield cause he has such poor defense, the team doesnt want him playing is original position. Who could or could not produce all star numbers again, even though many Experts believe the odds are against him getting 45HR, 120RBI and hitting for .320AVG. a more realistic number would be 30HR, 100RBI adn .300AVG [which is what id predict for young, I mean he hit .288, with 93RBI last year on a team with essentially only Carl Crawford]
