Percival just became available.
And although more save opportunities are available with Arizona, everyone expects Lyon to be replaced in the near future by Pena.
Should I make the move or hold on to Lyon?
Drop Lyon?

I have Lyon on my team and I'd drop him if Percival was available. Percival has the job security over him. Arizona had the most saves out of any team last year but if despite the fact they keep saying they're confident in Lyon I have no doubt that in June he won't be closing anymore (feels like it could be any week now). Now I need to figure out what to do with him becasue I don't have the luxury of having any closers on waivers/fa.

Just wonder what the current consensus was on Lyon. He has saved my bull pen which would have been fine except of the disappoint performance of Trevor Hoffman.

haha i was actually thinking about this thread a few days ago after lyon had just picked up his 8th save and had been scoreless in his past 10 innings or whatever. I still have him on my team as well but just included him in a trade (sell high). At this point I would definatley take him over percival. Didn't see his rush coming on at all especially after all that talk that he was going to lose his job early on.

well the trade was swish/delmon young/lyon for hunter and church but i actually just vetoed it because i thought i was giving up too much to begin with combined wiht the fact that i have smoltz on my team and since I'd be getting rid of all my excess assets to get an upgrade at one of my OF spots (Hunter-best player in deal) i thought i could get a little more along with a SP so I played it off as a travesty that Smoltz got injured coupled with the fact that I'm in a league wiht all friends I was able to pull out. As far as what do I think I can get for him, it really depends on the other teams needs as far as how they're doing in saves. I'm going to try to comibine him with a OF or two to get an OF upgrad eover what I have along with a servicable SP.
What do you think of my original trade with him? Was i giving up too much? I posted this trade in the TRADE HELP thread a few below this Lyon thread and didn't get many responses at all. It's like no one uses this fantasy baseball forum at all except for the dynasty league people. The fantasy football and basketball forums had waayyyy more action than this forum does which is surprising.

I'm the wrong guy to ask since this is my second season doing fantasy baseball and that after a four year hyatus. But that said...
I have Tori Hunter. He is okay but no great shakes. I don't think I'd trade Lyon straight up for him. I take that back, I looked at his stats and he is doing good. It is so tough to judge these guys because they so often go 0 for 3 or 0 for 4. And Church is looking pretty good.
I don't know I guess it would be fair. I tend to look at trades as do they help my weekness and can I afford the hit.

I'd trade Lyon straight up for Torrii in a heatbeat especially since Smotlz might become the closer in a few weeks and I'm in first in saves by a bunch along with trying to true up my OF position but I doubt he'd do that, espeically after i vetoed the trade i just stated. I think Delmon will come on strong in the coming month and will get out of his ofer in the HR dept.

Would you trade him for Dustin Pedroia? The thing is I already have Howie Kendrick and Luis Castillo.
How about Nick Markakis or Ryan Braun?
Think I could/Should get Ryan Howard for him? The guy with Howard is advertising for a closer and has Pujols.
Think this is a sell high buy low oppertunity?

I wouldn't trade him for Pedroia and theres no way anyone would give up markakis, braun, or howard for him straight up. You could always try to package someone else with him for one of those players but those guys are studs and lyon is an overachieving very hittable closer who a mere two weeks ago people were talkign about him losing his job along with this thread which was originally started about dropping him for troy percival.

I'm looking to get a SP since I lost Smoltz to the DL and most likely to the bullpen for the season along with Gallardo to the DL. I'm looking to shop Lyon straight up for a SP. Who would you rather have and do you think it's feasible people would make this trade straight up for Lyon: Put in order of preference; Owings, Carmona, Billingsley, Oswalt, Shields, Wainwright, McGowan. Thanks a lot.
