Funny, both Stanton and Strasburg are better....

A player who has hit 47 HR in his 1541 career AB is like Ryan Howard? Meanwhile Stanton had 89 HR in his 1195 minor league career AB while being younger...

Mike Trout is better than all of those guys.

Look at his face, yo. That's why I posted the picture. I wasn't really making a serious player comparison. And Stanton and Strasburg are no longer prospects, they won't be going back to the minors. Baseball America released their top 25 midseason prospects list and Brown is #1. I thought you of all people would be on top of these things, bigboy.

Ty, I expected the Trout comment. Kid's been putting up unbelievable numbers so far.

It's crazy because I've been reading better reviews from scouts than the stats he's been putting up.

Either was I, as I know you know they are better. Although technically they are still prospects, which is why I said it. And obviously I know BA released their mid-season list today. As on the list I had three of the top 7 and four of the top 15, and that isn't counting Myers who is better then numerous guys in their in top 25.

Fun fact, Wil Myers>Mike Trout. Although for fantasy I'd probably take Trout.

Yeah, it's not like he plays a harder position, has more power, and walks more....

I'm not going to discredit Myers' ability, it's just that I think Trout is that good.

Trout hasn't committed an error on defense, has 44 SB's to 9 CS, 45 BB:52 SO, .362 AVG, with 33 XBH. Trout had a higher batting average, OBP, and SLG% than Myers. Really silly to argue they're both insanely good, Trout's just better. :)

Eh, your double counting a lot of things as Trout is getting a lot of singles that he probably won't keep getting as he gets older, meaning a lot of people predict his speed to decline a little bit and as he faces better defenses he isn't going to get as many singles. Those singles effect his AVG, OBP, SLG which you gave Trout the advantage in, and I would only give Trout the clear advantage in AVG of those three down the line, OBP will be close as Trout hits for a little more average but Myers walks more, and Myers will have more power.

They have pretty much equal plate discipline, Myers walks a little more, Trout strikes out a little less. But Myers clearly has more power. Trout does he the baserunning ability, but people do expect him to slow down a little and I've heard he could move to RF, I'll believe it when I see it though. Myers also has decent speed, obviously not on Trout's level though and he too could end up at RF. The Royals seem insistent that Myers can play catcher, which is the main reason I like him better in real life, although the power helps too.

Ok, off to the bar.

"Trout has the loudest tools in the game outside the major leagues," the scout said. "He's physical and strong, he's an easy 80 runner (on the 20-80 scale), and his speed will hold up. He's dynamic, the power's for real, the athleticism . . ." - from BA.

And scout are never wrong...
KG wrote:One has to wonder how long Trout will remain a 70 runner (on the 20-to-80 scouting scale), because at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, he's physically the most atypical burner around. He's not going to get slow, but it's hard to see him being a plus-plus runner when he's 25.

Well damn, already looks like these scouts are disagreeing, who would have thought.

The power can be for real, it still isn't as good as Myers'.

Here is a list I made a week ago when Myers was promoted. Since 2000 in the Midwest League, 19 or younger year olds, with a .180 ISO or higher, ranked by my simple plate discipline stat (which is like a FIP stat but without HR and based on PA instead of IP):

Year ISO PlateD Player
2004 0.198 2.00 Daric Barton*
2003 0.213 1.13 Prince Fielder*
2009 0.215 1.13 Jaff Decker*
2010 0.211 1.04 William Myers
2005 0.182 0.57 Carlos Gonzalez*
2009 0.180 0.55 Brett Lawrie
2006 0.202 0.46 Colby Rasmus*
2008 0.196 0.44 Mike Moustakas*
2000 0.187 0.38 Ben Johnson
2007 0.182 0.37 Hank Conger#
2007 0.198 0.17 Matthew Sweeney*
2002 0.223 0.05 Brad Nelson*
2009 0.219 -0.04 Josh Vitters
2006 0.225 -0.07 Jay Bruce*
2010 0.239 -0.19 Nick Franklin#
2004 0.219 -0.22 Eric Duncan*
2010 0.199 -0.29 Matthew Davidson
2007 0.212 -0.40 Travis Snider*
2009 0.189 -0.65 Angel Morales
2010 0.202 -0.94 Randal Grichuk
2010 0.186 -1.18 Max Stassi
2004 0.242 -1.26 Wladimir Balentien
2005 0.191 -1.34 Ian Gac
2001 0.221 -1.50 Wily Mo Pena

Trout is a great prospect, I agree, but I do think people are going overboard with his stats as they are more singles driven then I would like.

Well, now that he got promoted to the Quakes I'll be able to see him up close and in person. Being in the Angels organization, I am almost positive they have this guy push bunt for hits quite often.

You better be taking your ass to the futures game, shouldn't be that expensive to find just a futures game ticket online. Or you could use realgm and tell them your a member of the press/media and get a free pass and be able to get on the field.

What's up with Stud? He hasn't updated his roster for a month and a half.

Also, if someone is looking for an elite catcher I am shopping around Montero.

It would appear that Mr. Studdleberry has gone inactive, although his players haven't seemed to notice. Don't know what's up with him, he has a halfway decent team that could be in the playoff hunt with a little pruning.

On an unrelated note, I know he doesn't have a ton of long-term value, but what the heck was Angel Pagan sitting out there for so long?

Bigboy's team:

4 1B
9 OF
3 SP
2 CP
1 MRP
5 DL

He's got 19 offensive players and 8 pitchers. Amazing balance.

And yet I bet every person in the league would trade their roster for mine....

Don't you have the same number of 1B and CL as I do? Except mine are better of course. And I wouldn't trade any of my top 3 SP for any of your SP, although your SP is still nice.

The two things you can knock my roster for are (1) rolling without a catcher pretty much all season but Mr. Arencibia who has 28 HR in 320 AB in AAA this year should be up for the playoffs (although I guess I should focus on making them first, huh?) or if Buck gets traded and there are only two catchers in fantasy I would definitely take long-term over him and (2) Asdrubal and Everth getting injured and rolling without a SS, but Asdrubal is supposed to be back this weekend so I'm fine with it now.
