Re: MLB Dynasty League Offseason Thread (draft in progress)
Don't think the age thing matters that much, they are both a year removed from high school.
I don't think you can tell me Trout is going to develop more power, then say he has 80 speed. If he develops more power he is going to slow down. You aren't going to have both.
In addition to Myers having more power, he also walks 4% more of the time, and if he can stick at catcher will bring more defensive value then Trout. (Probably what this all boils down to is if Myers can stick at catcher, even though people have said he would be above average in RF.) I also think you underestimate just how athletic Myers is, and he has more room to grow than Trout...

Re: MLB Dynasty League Offseason Thread (draft in progress)
Develop more game power, is what I should say. I think Trout is probably maxed out physically--and yet, he is still an 80 runner. And when comparing prospects, yes, age does matter. Same time removed from high school, doesn't matter in my opinion, especially when we're talking around 8 months difference in age. In addition to Trout having better speed, he also strikes out 2% less than Myers.
Even when Myers moves to first or right field, Trout will always stay at center (unless Bourjos forces him to move to the corner). Either way, right now, Trout is the better prospect. And if not, it's got to be a tie.

Are you really saying 8 months difference in age between two kids who were in the same HS class matters? Seriously. I mean you can give Trout a very very small advantage there, but it's even smaller than his striking out 2% less.
Myers will never be a 1B and by you saying that you confirm that you are in fact underestimating how athletic this kid is.

Fine, you win. The Lebron James down there in the Royals organization at catcher is a better athlete than a guy who runs home to first in 3.94 seconds at 217 pounds and who has stolen 61 bases in 145 professional baseball games.

Resorting to things I never said like Myers is a better athlete than Trout, nice.
Edit- Now quit arguing about this and make a trade with me before I leave once the Cardinal game is over.

Well, if you agree he isn't the athlete that Trout is than what he is doing that is showing you he is so much better (or just better) than Trout? Besides his power. Nothing else is a landslide between the two, except Trout's speed. So Trout is faster and Myers currently has more power? Everything else is pretty much identical. The plate discipline, the success at each level despite age, defense, etc.

Matt Kemp is an untouchable, and you don't want anybody else on my team. I want Latos so let's see if something works. I'll send a trade.

Your the one that came in saying Trout was better this time, not me. I was simply pointing out how a bunch of singles in High A from Myers raised his status in BA from 26+ best prospect to top 5 in less than a month.

There has to be a deal where you'd trade him.
Wil Myers for Mike Trout?

Is there, umm, another part of this Carpenter-Damon trade or is this it? Not that I object to one of my main competitors giving away an ace.

Nope, the comments section is only between the two trade parties, you have to announce any prospect/pick movement on the thread.

Sucks for Strasburg. In other news, Jason Castro needs to be picked up.
