Webb's 42-inning scoreless streak came to an end in the first inning of his last start against the Brewers on Wednesday, but he still pitched his usual strong game and picked up the win in allowing two runs in seven innings. He is arguably pitching better overall than last year's Cy Young-winning campaign. Due to an off-day, he will be pitching on an extra day of rest, after hurling three straight complete games during the streak.
Padres:
Germano pitched well in his last start on Thursday against the Mets, allowing a first-inning run, but yielded only three more hits up until the sixth inning when he loaded the bases with no outs. A costly error by Kevin Kouzmanoff at third base prolonged the inning. Germano, who earned a no-decision, eventually left, but was on the hook for three earned runs. He struck out two and walked two and was efficient through the first five innings before running into trouble in the sixth inning.
