The Diamondbacks have replaced hitting coach Kevin Seitzer with Rick Schu, the organization's hitting coordinator after Arizona limped into the All-Star break losing five straight - matching its season high - and eight of nine overall.

The Diamondbacks are hitting .248. - 27th out of 30 teams in the major leagues and after being tied for first place in the NL West on June 27, the Diamondbacks have slipped to third in large part because they can't get clutch hits.

"We felt a change was an appropriate decision based on our offensive struggles," Diamondbacks GM Josh Byrnes said, , in a statement released Wednesday. "Kevin Seitzer gave us tremendous passion and effort. Rick Schu has history with a lot of our players, and we feel he can help us improve our performance."

Seitzer, 44, had a 12-year career as a player and was hired in October 2006 to serve in his first season as a major league coach.

Schu, 45, is in his 10th season with the Diamondbacks and second stint as the Major League hitting coach. Schu, who had a nine-year tenure in the majors, has held the position of hitting coordinator, overseeing hitting instruction for Arizona's farm system, in 2003 and from 2005-07.

I like the switch. Schu has a history with the team and knows our players far better than Seitzer ever did.

Lets just hope there are some results
