Ronald Acuña Jr. (groin) remains out of the Braves' lineup for Friday's series opener against the Padres.

Acuña Jr. sat out Wednesday's series finale against the Red Sox due to left groin soreness, but it doesn't sound like he's going to be sidelined for an extended period. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar has gotten it going at the dish recently with at least one hit in seven consecutive contests since May 2. He's hitting .282/.391/.487 with two round-trippers and five stolen bases across 46 plate appearances since returning April 28.

That elusive step to .500 ball seems to elude this team. It did for much of the season last summer

Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters that Ronald Acuña Jr. left Saturday's game as a precaution after fouling ball off his foot.

Snitker told reporters that they didn't want Acuña to push it after the foot became sore from fouling the ball off his foot earlier in the contest. The outfielder will get checked out Sunday morning, but Snitker didn't believe there was a chance of a fracture. All that being said, managers will need to see the status update that comes with that checkup before the finale against the Dodgers.

Braves placed RHP Kenley Jansen on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 27, with an irregular heartbeat.

Awful news. Jansen dealt with an irregular heartbeat earlier in his career with the Dodgers and wound up undergoing a heart procedure back in 2018. It's unclear how much time the 34-year-old veteran closer, who has converted 20 saves this season in his Braves debut, will miss. Atlanta will likely turn to left-hander Will Smith to handle any save chances in his absence. Obviously, the primary concern here is Jansen's long-term health and well-being. There should be some clarity on his status soon. Stay tuned.
