Braves acquired RHP Joe Jiménez and cash from the Tigers for OF Justyn-Henry Malloy and LHP Jake Higginbotham.

Jiménez was slated to become a free agent next offseason and newly-minted Tigers' president of baseball operations Scott Harris apparently found a deal to his liking for a pair of prospects. The hard-throwing 27-year-old righty posted a solid 3.49 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 77/13 K/BB ratio across 56 2/3 innings (62 appearances) last year. He'll augment the Braves' late-inning relief depth.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that the Cubs, Cardinals, Twins and Red Sox are among teams that have shown the most interest in free agent shortstop Dansby Swanson.

No real surprises here as Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts seem like the logical next dominoes to fall in the free agent market. There's always a possibility that Swanson winds up jumping them, but he would seem to have the most leverage when he's the last elite shortstop left in the pool. The wait continues.

Braves Acquire Sean Murphy, Brewers Acquire William Contreras In Three-Team Trade

The Braves, Brewers and A’s have agreed to a three-team blockbuster that will see each team get a new catcher with nine players involved in total. The full trade is as follows:

Braves get catcher Sean Murphy, giving up Kyle Muller, Royber Salinas, Justin Yeager, Freddy Tarnok, Manny Piña and William Contreras.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Cubs are finalizing a contract agreement with free agent shortstop Dansby Swanson.

Swanson will receive a seven-year, $177 million deal, which also includes a full no-trade clause, per Russell Dorsey of Bally Sports. The 28-year-old shortstop, who posted a .776 OPS with 25 home runs and 18 stolen bases last year with the Braves, was the last superstar-caliber position player remaining in the free agent pool. He'll pair with second baseman Nico Hoerner in Chicago to form the best middle infield defensive tandem in baseball.
