I don't think it would be a good idea to get Griffey. I just don't see where he would help our team right now. He isn't the player he used to be with all his injuries, he is just going to get hurt sometime during the season and it will all be a waste of money. I am not saying that Griffey is a bad player at all, I'm just saying I don't think he will be a great contributer.

We don't need him. Getting Griffey would cost us actual talent, he is a big injury risk, and would need an extension after this next year.

Isn't it time to trade Griffey?

Having stepped to bat 613 times last year, and delivered 30 home runs, and successfully made the transition away from center field, Junior has become a considerably more tradable gentleman than he was in recent years. From the Cincinnati perspective, the value of dealing him derives from his age (38 the week after next), his salary ($12.5 million next year, with a 2009 option for $16.5 million), his left-handedness (along with Hamilton's and Bruce's and Adam Dunn's), his somber history here (seven straight losing seasons) and the imminent arrival of Bruce.

As a vested veteran, Griffey could not be traded without approving. A writer in Atlanta has lobbied that he go there, close to his home in Orlando. The Yankees are unsettled at first base, if he's interested in switching positions again. The Mariners saw last year what he means to Seattle.
