Braves feel good about rotation

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Nov 8, 2007 6:08 pm

While the Braves are preparing an offer for free agent Tom Glavine, they haven't forgotten about another veteran left-hander they hope to have back in their starting rotation in 2008.

Mike Hampton, who has missed two seasons recovering from surgeries on his left elbow, is set to begin pitching Nov. 20 for Navojoa in Mexican winter league, Braves general manager Frank Wren said.

"That's the plan, for him to be ready to pitch two to three innings first time out [in Mexico]," Wren said from the general managers meetings in Orlando. "He's progressing very well. I talked to him over the weekend."

Wren said if the Braves sign a free-agent starting pitcher

I think Lerew has a shot to make the rotation.

I think he should get a shot at the starting pitcher role. He's a good pitcher with some good stuff, he's a pitcher that could go late into games for us to save some of the bullpen arms.
