Smoltz nominates Hudson as ace

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sun Feb 17, 2008 9:11 am

Veteran wants to pace himself, OK with not starting opener

"You can pretty much pencil Huddy in first," Smoltz said. "In my opinion, that's a no-brainer. But it absolutely doesn't matter. ... I'm past all the Opening Day stuff and the slot numbers. I want to make sure when I leave camp, I'm in a position to pitch as long and as much as I possibly can."

I want to see who gets the 4 through 5 spots. 1-2-3 is pretty much set. Hudson-Smoltz-Glavine.

I just hope the 4 and 5 can eat some innings for us. I can dream, right? I just hope it's not all on Tommy and Timmy to pitch deep into the game. It's expected that Smoltz won't, but I would love to see someone be that sleeper for us, and at this point I don't know what to expect out of Mike Hampton.
