If it's for the bullpen and spot rotation play, I'm OK with it. Can be very useful for times when needed.

Exactly, Wren has said the signing of Livan will have no affect on the 5 spot in rotation. Livan is simply adding depth. One or two of Hanson, Jurrjens, Hudson gets injured, you have Livan, C Martinez or Medlen to use for that spot start.
