2012 Draft

Post#1 » by ohara » Mon Jun 4, 2012 7:21 pm

1st round is tonight, starting at 7:00. Braves select #21. I have seen so many mocks, and none seem to agree on where the Braves go with the pick tonight. I've seen starting pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr. RHP from HS noted. I've seen Tyler Naguin OF from Texas A&M. Seen David Dahl OF from HS and Tanner Rahier SS from HS also. Even saw a 3rd baseman from Clemson listed, but cannot recall his name. All over the place in guessing where we go tonight. Will have to see MLB Network tonight and find out.

Anyone have a preference on who they want selected tonight?

I wonder what positions they are looking to draft. I would love if they drafted OF James Ramesy out of FSU, Sean Gilmartin's former teammate. Was also a teammate of Buster Posey.

They appear to want Dahl, but he will likely be gone before #21. If he is, they will go with BPA. But RGM article was noting how the Braves always try to get someone under slot. And that is hard to do with the BPA. Usually have to reach for someone who then is OK with under slot money. This is why I get so frustrated with our ownership group. Wish some billionaire would come along and take this team over and not have an issue with spening money to bring a Championship to Atlanta.

Watch us get another pitcher, but all jokes aside I expect us to get an OF, we're pretty stacked at every position tho, I can't really name anyone from the Draft class as I don't follow the MLB Draft like I do NBA and NFL

James Ramsey went two picks later at 23 to the Cardinals. Should have drafted him.

Through 4 rds, Wren has drafted 2 pitchers from Georgia(not the school) and a Catcher from FL.

Wren loves his pitchers, we are already stacked in the minors with pitchers. Really disappointed he didn't draft OF James Ramsey at 21.

Add on the 4th round pick of Justin Black, HS player who is a CF.

5th round Blake Brown Missouri RF

6th round Josh Elander TCE Catcher

(2) catchers in the first 6 rounds? Interesting.

The Braves have agreed to terms with second rounder Alex Wood for $700K, tweets Kendall Rogers of Perfect Game USA. The left-hander from the University of Georgia was the 85th overall pick, which carries a slot value of $583K.

As you know, I wanted FSU OF James Ramsey with our first rd pick, he was named Co-Player of the Year, and has signed with the Cards.

Return to Atlanta Braves
