Rockies (Article/Q&A)

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Tue Jun 12, 2007 3:04 pm

Troy - I know it's still a ways away, but give me one realistic free-agent possibility, if there even is one. Thanks a lot.

Among the targets available will be Minnesota's Torii Hunter, Atlanta's Andruw Jones (no chance with him), Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki and Padres setup man Scott Linebrink.

And what I like to hear:
Chris Iannetta is supposed to be the long-term answer but hasn't cut it as of yet. Why not talk to Atlanta about Jarrod Saltalamacchia?

Chris - "Salty," as the Braves call their prized catcher, is not available. At least not yet. He's obviously highly regarded. But given the Braves' problems at first base, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to exhaust that option with the kid before considering a trade.

Take the Q&A with a grain of salt because Troy is only answering questions. I'm sure we (Atlanta) would move Salty for the right players.

What is Bobby waiting for to start him there. I say platoon him there for a couple of weeks and when it really looks like he is out playing Thorman (which he already is) give Salty the job fulltime. If it doesn't work all it will do is increase his value cuz people already know what he can do behind the plate and if he contribute at 1B that makes him 162 game player like Francoeur.
