2019 Braves Game Thread....

Braves had a 3-1 lead, before Luke Jackson allowed 3 runs in the 9th. Giants win 4-3. I wish upper management would allow AA to bring back Kimbrel. We need a real closer.

Man, a loss like that just tears a team's heart out and stops them from going on a long roll - which it seemed like the Braves were ready to go on. It's gut-wrenching. Are they now going to go with Newcomb and Touki as the key late game relievers? The Luke Jackson as closer experiment has to be over if I'm running the team anyway.

I guess. Don't know what they'll do. We need the draft to hurry up and happen, so that we can sign Kimbrel. Vizcaino is hurt and was traded. Minter and Jackson aren't ready for the closer role. Ironically both would benefit from learning from a closer of Kimbrel's caliber.

Very disappointing game last night.
Up and we lose it in the bottom of the 9th.
Hoping for better today from our bullpen.

Losing last night sucked. Another blown lead by the bullpen. I like Luke Jackson but he's obviously not closer material.

Snitger drives me absolutely crazy...Y'all want to blame individual players and management but the repeated late inning melt downs lay at the feet of Brian Snitger. This guy just throws pitchers out there without 1st determining whether or not they can even throw strikes. I have no idea why this guy thinks that Venters belongs in this league because he doesn't. This guy has marched bums like Minter, Biddle, Sobotka, Carle, Venter etc.in and Braves have lost many games because this guy was just marching these guys out there in late innings without 1st determining whether these guy can actually pitch. Isn't it the job of the bench manager to figure out who can play and who can't? The Braves are so talented but they are going no where with this manager Period. I know having a reliable closer would help because this guy is such a freaking mindless robot but this guy's lack of instincts will doom the team regardless.

These are a lot of the same criticisms I've had with Snitker over the years and I'm on record on this forum in stating that I didn't like us removing his interim tag and making him the new manager (I know Nemesis was against it too). He's a lifelong Brave but his pitching management is among the worst in the league and the team loving him wasn't grounds on giving him a new deal.

Now, I do think that he's earned the right to be the manager over time after winning the manager of the year award last season. While his decisions have remained questionable, I can't lay the blame on him this time. He can only work with what he's got, and what AA and Liberty Media have given him has been one of the least talented collection of arms in any major league bullpen. This team needs two more reliable bullpen arms minimum before they can even think of making any real noise.

The Braves clobber the Giants 9-2, hit 3 HRs, Swanson(3 run) and Freeman(solo) go back to back, Riley 3 run HR late. Fried picks up win number 7 behind 6 strong innings of 4 hit, 2 run ball, with 5 Ks.

Braves have a chance to win this 4 game series tonight.

I don't know who the competition is around the league - just haven't been paying attention tbh, but I'm guessing Riley might challenge for Rookie POY, while Soroka will for rookie pitcher of the year - and maybe other awards - he's kinda doing well.

Wish we knew Riley would be this good. It'll be hard to trade Ender this season, even with his previous GG's, his defense has not been great this season and he still has the 1st half struggles at the plate.
