Atlanta Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira on Tuesday was named the National League Player of the Month for August.
Teixeira, who was acquired from the Texas Rangers at the July 31 trade deadline, hit .315 with 10 homers and 32 RBI last month. A switch-hitting slugger, Teixeira recorded 13 multi-hit games in August.
The 27-year-old Teixeira also blasted two homers in a game in consecutive contests on August 19 and 20.
