With basically nothing to lose but the chance that he might have to spend the rest of the season sidelined, Chipper Jones returned to the lineup for Friday night's series opener against the Nationals at RFK Stadium.
When Jones strained his right oblique muscle before Monday's series opener against the Mets, he felt he was one wrong motion away from being destined to spending the rest of the season sidelined. He didn't have that same feeling after testing himself with swings and throws on Friday afternoon.
"It feels good enough that I know I'm not going to put myself in jeopardy of missing the rest of the season," Jones said. "The other day, I didn't feel that way."
