Sean Newcombe did well in the bullpen. How do you feel about him starting again?

With Hamels injury, is Newcomb a lock for the starting rotation?

Good to hear - he clearly wasn't himself last season - and it was probably because he tried to transform himself into a power hitter. Instead, he wasn't anything offensively, and his defense took an even bigger dive than his offense. He was fine being himself the year before - not Donaldson - but still a good starting 3rd baseman who used to have the range of a ss.

Newcombe's no lock for the starting rotation. Kyle Wright has been disappointing in the majors, but they can't give up on him, and he's 24, so I expect they'll give him every opportunity to be in the rotation - on day 1. Same for Bryse Wilson - though there's less rush with him since he's just 22. Weigel could be the wildcard, but I expect he'll be in the bullpen. Assuming everyone's healthy, I expect the 5th starter spot is mainly between Newcomb and Wright, and I think they want Wright to win it, so I'd give him the edge.

Well deserved

The Braves have extended the contract of manager Brian Snitker through 2021.

The same goes for the rest of his staff. With back-to-back division titles under his belt, Snitker certainly didn't deserve to go into 2020 as a lame duck. In addition to the extensions for Snitker and his staff, general manager Alex Anthopoulos has been promoted to president of baseball operations while having his contract extended through 2024.

Old school Nick dialing up the tension. :D Probably not smart comments from him because he's so highly respected and people will take him literally - as if he's encouraging pitchers to throw at the Stros. MLB can't suspend the entire Astros team.

Impressive that Bryce Ball - being the Braves 24th round pick - not only got a ST invite but homered. Listed at 6'6 235 lbs.

King Felix with 6 Ks, 1 BB in 4.4 IP in 2 ST starts. I know it's spring training, but I'm hoping Felix wins the 5th job and is on the team for the season. We need him and Hamels.
