Also Pujols' deal has a no trade clause, just a terrible deal for the angels in the long run; at most he has 5 years of amazing baseball left then his deal becomes a handicap.

Heard that Miami had gotten the price up to 10 yrs and $275 Mil. But apparently they would not bend on the No TradeClause issue, and that was that. Wow. At least, this is what I was hearing on MLB network on Sirius tonight. Either way, he's an Angel now.

Just saw the story. I did not see this coming at all. Man, he has just destroyed his legacy, pending the appeal holding up. What a shame. I cant stand cheaters in the game.

According to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, the Phillies have reached a one-year deal with Dontrelle Willis. Source: Jim Salisbury on Twitter

I really dislike this, not because I expect him to have a great season, but I just like the guy as a player, and now I must cheer against him.

Bonds' sentencing brings BALCO saga near a close

Now, federal sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term of between 15 months and 21 months. But federal probation officers are recommending that Bonds receive no time, citing his charitable work, the nature of the crime and his otherwise spotless criminal record. U.S. District Judge Susan Illston has sentenced two other BALCO figures convicted of similar crimes to probation and house arrest.

Good move for the Reds, Latos has proven he can be an elite pictcher, in 2010 he was lights out and the Ace for a Padres team with excellent pitching and a great rotation.

Very big move by the Reds. Latos gives them a really strong arm in the starting rotation to give them a big boost.

Contrary to published reports, the top sealed bid submitted for star Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish on Wednesday was the highest in the history of the posting process, exceeding the record $51.1 million fee that the Boston Red Sox paid the Seibu Lions for the rights to negotiate with Daisuke Matsuzaka in 2006, according to Japanese league officials.

Though the identity of the major league franchise that won exclusive negotiating rights to the 25-year-old right-hander has yet to be revealed, Japanese league officials say that the offer to Darvish's team, the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters, is higher than the $40-48 million range that has been reported in the U.S. and Japan.

The Fighters have until Tuesday to accept or reject the highest bid. If they accept, the high bidder has 30 days to work out a deal with Darvish's agents. If no agreement is reached, Darvish returns to the Fighters for another season, and no money changes hands.

About a half-dozen major league teams entered the auction for Darvish, who has a 1.99 ERA over seven seasons in Japan. He's reportedly seeking a five-year, $75 million contract, which would push the total package to more than $125 million. The two most aggressive bidders are believed to have been the Toronto Blue Jays and the Texas Rangers. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/b ... &eref=sihp
