I guess the Braves are at their last resort. Would be the only way I bring Nick back. So I guess Acuna will hit clean up now.

I can't believe we couldn't do better than this. AA hinted at the chop fest that a trade for an OF was near.

So, it's basically 6 mil for 1 year. Well, I'll look on the bright side, because I thought they might end up spending over 10 mil for him. Considering it's not a ton of money, this shouldn't stop them from going after someone younger that may become available - perhaps at midseason.

AA better blow us away with a starter and or closer. Outside of Donaldson, this has been a very disappointing offseason so far. The Nats, Mets and Philly(will be) made a few moves and got better.

If we don't get a Kluber/Bower and have to go with Viz/Minter closer platoon again, I'm not confident in repeating the NL East. I thought we had money to spend? We have the second best farm system, why not go make trades? We need to be making moves to be serious World Series candidate, not moves to maybe repeat as division champ.

I also have a feeling that Liberty Media is handcuffing AA. With all the talent on this roster, with an MVP candidate as the face of the franchise in Freeman & a 21 yr old superstar, the time is now, we can't miss our window.

Say that Kimbrel's price is 4/65. Should the Braves sign him? I would have said no until recently, but they're running out of ways to improve the team (though really, there are lots of ways they can but probably won't), and he'd make a big difference to the entire pen, so now I'm interested. I mean... the fans are getting antsy, and who else would generate as much excitement in Atlanta? The fit is as good as it gets.

Disappointed but not surprised that they brought Nick back. It’s the cheap, penny-pinching type of move that this franchise is known for. In a vacuum it’s a good deal for a very solid baseball player, who only needs to achieve a 0.5 WAR to be worth the contract.

However, Nick suffered a severe decline in last year’s second half. He’d be a great 4th OF on a contender but this move isn’t it in terms of getting us over the hump.

If they don’t bring in any bullpen upgrades then we’ll be doing a great job of continuing to waste Freddie Freeman’s prime and Acuna’s rookie deal. The payroll is the exact sameness currently as it was in 2014.

I'm pretty disappointed in this offseason too. I thought we were going to be way more active. Outside of Donaldson, we have not upgraded at all.

So do y'all think it's AA or is he being handcuffed by Liberty Media?

The Braves have 8 top 100 prospects, why not use 1-2 and go get Kluber??? It's insane that we haven't been linked to him.

In fairness, while I think that Liberty Media is being as stingy as ever, no teams are really spending much. Bowman projects that the team has about $15 mil left to work with this offseason. That's enough for a good bullpen piece.

Yeah well Bowman was way off when the season ended, saying they'd have $50-60 mill to spend.

While teams aren't spending much, the NL East is. The Mets and Nats have made a few moves. The Phillies will be soon, and are likely to get 1 of Harper/Machido, plus a pitcher like Kuechel.

Right now today, I'm not confident we repeat the NL East.

I get the feeling they'll wait till the trade deadline to see if they're going to be buyers and use that 15 mil, but then they'll come up with an excuse for not using it - saying we couldn't find a fair deal. They need to realize that the NL East is going to be a lot better this season.

Realmuto talks nearing the end stages. Braves, Reds, Padres reportedly in advanced talks.

Buster Olney thinks the Machado/Harper chase could go another 2-3 weeks, Saying it could be similar to JD Martinez situation last year. JD signed with the Red Sox on Feb 26.

Meanwhile, when are the Braves going to do something? Sign Keuchel, Kimbrel and Marwin and let's go!

Seems like the teams are staring down the agents waiting for them to lower their demands - knowing that teams with cap problems probably aren't going to bid, so teams like the Braves are just going to wait for Kimbrell's price to keep going down. The Red Sox might not be able to bid on Kimbrell, and that kills his leverage. At this point, I think the Braves need to get him. He would energize the fan base, and it needs to be energized. And not getting him would be a letdown to the fanbase.

Marlins are demanding Sixto Sanchez from Philly in a trade for Realmuto. That would be the equivalent to Mike Soroka for us.

Sanchez ranked #22 in top 100, Soroka ranked #20. F that! No way I'm trading Soroka or Wright for Realmuto.

The highest pitching prospect I'd offer is maybe Ian Anderson. I would have to think hard on it, I'd rather send Gohara.

Phillies get Realmuto for their top prospect. That would be like us sending Soroka or Wright for Realmuto. No way in hell I would have done that.

I'm glad we don't have to hear about him anymore. Go get Kimbrel and Keuchel!

I think the Phillies gave them three top 5 protects for Realmuto, way too steep for my liking.

I theorize that they came out of nowhere and went all out to try and entice Harper to join them. I hope he doesn't.

Pitchers and catchers report this week. If the Braves don't make anymore moves, I'm not confident that the finish higher than 3rd in the division.
