These are his stats over his 4 games pitched
Wins 0 Losses 1 ERA 8.20 Saves 0 IP 18.2 Hits 23 ERs 17 BB 11 SO 6
Now someone please explain to me why everyone is talking like this is the next John Smoltz and he is way to much to give up? I guess I will be the only one happy if this deal really does go down
Now Arroyo has struggled this year but he has shown signs of being really good also. Does anyone remember the game he pitched against us 7 innings 0 Runs allowed and somewhere around 9 or 10 strikeouts?
And please for the love of god dont trade Diaz. Lets not trade someone who has done absolutely nothing for us (Reyes) but lets trade someone who has been nothing but superb for us when called upon (Diaz). I just dont understand the reasoning sometimes

i hope thats not towards me because if it is then you read my post completely wrong....

nobody has said that he's gonna be the next smoltz or anywhere near that good, we're saying it looks like theres a good chance he's gonna be a solid pitcher because his stuff is so nasty and he dominated the minors....
it looks like JS is offering jojo and thorman for arroyo....my god that is a horrible trade for us

Ive seen A LOT of pitchers dominate in the minors and then do nothing in the pros. Do you agree we are in a win now mode? Because that to me is pretty obvious. IMO Reyes cant help us in that department Arroyo probably can.
MLBTR had a good qoute....
"If you're a Braves fan, you're really have to admire John Schuerholz's willingness to go for broke. Maybe he's found a market inefficiency in teams overvaluing prospects. "

Yah your right because minor leauge wins will help us for the post season this year, so how dare I think we should do that. I forgot Reyes doesnt have to win in the bigs to help us this year. Send him back to the minors so he can get us to the WS that way

yeah your right a lot of pitchers that are good in the minors dont make it in the bigs but i can guarantee you've not seen a lot of pitchers dominate in the minors and then do nothing in the pros with the stuff that jo jo has....there is no reason to think that jo jo cant be as good as arroyo is now if not better with the stuff he has, he just needs some experience and a little tuning to his control....
and yes its obvious we are in the win now mode....

But answer me this, who do you think would help the braves more this year and this year alone Arroyo or Reyes

arroyo would help us more this year, but that question doesnt matter when it makes no sense to trade a really talented, developing young pitcher like jo jo for a better now, but average SP like arroyo....
thats like saying we should traded salty for todd helton because helton could help us win more now, but obviously that would be ridiculous....

Well see it does make sense at least in the mindset im in right now, because IMO with the Teixeira and Dotel trades I think we are REALLY close to a World Series, so when your the close you go all out and do whatever you can to help. If I didnt think we were close obviously I wouldnt be basing my decision on who could help more this year.
If Arroyo for Reyes could be the difference in winning a world series or not would you do the trade? Because I think we are close enough where it could be a factor.
Also dont get me wrong here if we can find another SP for something else great. But we NEED another SP this year I think. So if this is our only choice at aquiring a SP I think we have to do it.

i wouldnt say we're close to a world series, getting the wild card alone is going to be tough....dotel could get injured, he has always been an injury proned pitcher....
no i still wouldnt trade reyes for arroyo, because while winning the world series would be awesome i dont want to see our whole future go, a bunch of it already has....
and besides we really wouldnt need arroyo for the WS with how buddy is pitching, usually teams just use their top 4 SPs and buddy is pitching just as good as arroyo right now....
