I had a feeling that Jim Thome would end his career as a Philly. I wanted him to sign with an AL team so he could continue to DH. I won't be surprised if he decides to retire before the season starts.

Source: Mets Willing To Deal Wright

The Mets will be open to discussing David Wright in trades this winter as they complete a move away from Wright and Jose Reyes.

"We will listen on Wright for sure," a Mets official said. "We know we are not going to win it all in 2012. We have to hope the Phillies get old and we are in position to take advantage of that in 2013-14, and we have to figure out ways to speed the process to get there."

Joel Sherman of The New York Post writes that the Mets are focused on the Angels, who had interest in Wright previously and have young talent in Mike Trout and Peter Bourjos.

Are you just posting this because it's news or because you want the Braves to trade for him or just happy he won't be with the Mets anymore ?

I posted it since it's related to the Mets and one of their star players. His salary is affordable but I doubt our teams would discuss a trade.

07:$1M, 08:$5M, 09:$7.5M, 10:$10M, 11:$14M, 12:$15M,
13:$16M club option ($1M buyout)

Oh lol. Hopefully Philly, Fla or NYY don't trade for him.

Royals traded Melky Cabrera to the Giants for Jonathan Sanchez and Ryan Verdugo. This means CF is Lorenzo Cain's for the Royals, so he won't be coming to the Braves. This only makes me further believe that there were Jurrjens chats but Frank and Dayton couldn't agree on anything.

Also, I very rarely hate baseball players but I hate Melky Cabrera with a passion and can't wait to watch him be terrible with the Giants next year because he got paid and will put on 25 pounds before spring training.

The Phillies and Jonathan Papelbon have agreed to terms.

rotoworld.com:
Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports that the Phillies and Jonathan Papelbon have reached a four-year contract that will approach $50 million.
The deal is pending a physical. It's been an interesting week for the Phillies, as just a few days ago they appeared to be close to locking up Ryan Madson on a long-term deal. Those talks fell apart, so they turned their attention to Papelbon. The particulars of the contract aren't known at this point. If Papelbon does indeed sign with Philly, they'll have to surrender their first-round draft pick to the Red Sox.

Ridiculous contract for a closer, however should be an improvement over Madson. This may work out for the Phillies for the first two years of the contract (which is all they care about anyway) but those last two could be ugly if he regresses, which he probably will.

The Papelbon deal could be worth $60 million. It's not a sure thing and that offer would need to be signed.

Dale Sveum is Cubs new Manager and Terry Francona announced, he will not manage in 2012.

Good for Dale Sveum. I wish him the best.

I expect Terry Francona to get a t.v. job. A year off is possibly a good thing for him and I doubt he accepts just any coaching position.

I like the changes that are being made to the Wild Card. 2 Wild Card teams, one game playoff, and the winner moves on. This could possibly start next season.

The other changes are two 15 team leagues. Houston is moving to the AL but supposedly the season is going to be full of interleague play.

Phils get Ty Wiggington from Rockies for PTBNL and $. Just a little depth for them. Not a huge move, but still solid.

Good move for Philly. It seems like a great deal of teams pursued Wiggington before the trade deadline so I find it odd that no other teams really showed an interest.
