Yankees acquire Andrew McCutchen from Giants

Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Yankees have agreed to a deal to acquire Andrew McCutchen from the Giants.
The Giants are expected to receive two prospects in return, one of which is expected to to be Abiatal Avelino. The 31-year-old outfielder is a nice addition to the Yankees' roster and should bolster their lineup for the final month of the regular season and into October. He was hitting .255/.357/.415 with 15 homers, 55 RBI and 13 swipes in his lone season with the Giants. His fantasy value should improve with the move as he gets a much improved surrounding cast and a massive upgrade to his home ballpark.

Angels to pursue Trout extension this winter

Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that the Angels are expected to discuss a contract extension with Mike Trout this offseason that would make him "a lifetime Angel."
The Halos tried to sign Trout to a "lifetime contract" a few years ago when the two sides wound up settling for a six-year, $144 million extension. That contract won't run out until after the 2020 season, but the Angels are interested in trying to lock the best player in the game up now. As Heyman notes, Trout and his agent, Craig Landis, would be wise to wait until after Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are signed to provide a salary floor for Trout. How seriously Trout might entertain another long-term deal from the Angels at this time remains to be seen.

I just don't see him staying there. They aren't making the playoffs this year, and probably not next year either. They have made the playoffs just once in his 7 year career. Outside of Ohtani, they don't have anyone who could be a star, multiple all star appearances type player. J Upton is 31 or 32, Pujols will be 39 next season and their farm system is ranked 20th this season. Plus the rumor that Scioscia will step down this winter.

He's from NJ, and probably wants to get closer to home. My pipedream is us going after him in FA, but Philly will be a major player in that, and if going that route, they could afford to get him via trade just like we can.

I mean... if they offer him 500 mil, how does he turn that down? I don't think he does - it's more than the lottery.

Now, Mr. Harper... how you doin'? Philly smells and has a .500 team; Atlanta's got everything Washington had - with an endless supply of the best young pitchers. Washington hasn't even made an offer. Truth be told, they'd be happy with the OF they have without you, so they could afford to buy some pitching. Come to the team that has surpassed the Nats.

Remember when most of us wanted to trade for Yelich?? He's likely the NL MVP and is 2 RBI shy of the NL triple crown.

True, I didn't want to give up the farm for him. I was wrong on that one.

Mike Trout says winning will play a huge part in his future.

I really don't see him staying, he's been to the playoffs once in his 7 year career. The Angles didn't make the playoff this season, Scioscia stepped down yesterday after their last game of the season.

Pujols will be 40 next yr, J Up will be 32, Ohtani needs Tommy John and their farm system is ranked 20th.

Outside of the lifetime contract that the Angels have mentioned, I just can't see them doing much to improve the talent around him.

We know the Phillies will be major players for him, he's from Jersey and an Eagles and 76ers fan.

I just hope the Braves can be major players for him too.

The team definitely tried to get him, but the Marlins weren't budging on their Acuna demand. While I'd love to have Yelich, even if I could go back I still wouldn't pull the trigger on giving them Acuna.

Most definitely. I didn't know that they asked for Acuna.

Most definitely. I didn't know that they asked for Acuna.

They reportedly asked for Acuna to start negotiations, meaning they wanted Acuna plus other prospects. The Marlins obviously wanted no part of trading Yelich to a division rival.

They could've gotten a much better package out of us than Lewis Brinson, who batted .199 this season, but it's their loss.

LA Dodgers vs Boston
I like Boston to win the World Series but I'm rooting for LA!

Sitting here watching game 3 of WS, thinking, y'all we could have had Walker Buehler. He went 10 picks after Allard.

I'm in Saudi Arabia for work and this world series has been good. The time difference does make it difficult.

LA scores 4 runs today and Boston wakes up to win 9-6. Boston leads 3-1.
