Jurrjens is National League Pitcher of the Month

Jair Jurrjens of the Braves was named National League Pitcher of the Month after going 5-1 with a 1.65 ER in six May starts, in one of the best early season performances the pitching-rich organization has ever had.
Since returning from a season-opening stint on the disabled list, Jurrjens has allowed two earned runs or fewer and worked six innings or more in each of his first nine starts, joining Lefty Gomez (1937), Randy Johnson (2000) and Ubaldo Jimenez (2010) as the only pitchers to do that.
Before Friday, Jurrjens (7-1) led major league starters with a 1.51 ERA and was tied for second in wins despite having three fewer starts than most in that category.
He beat out strong competition for the NL pitching award in May, including the Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw (4-0 with a 1.77 ERA), the Marlins’ Anibal Sanchez (4-0, 1.66 ERA) and Diamondbacks closer J.J. Putz (11 saves, 0.00 ERA). http://blogs.ajc.com/atlanta-braves-blo ... the-month/
