It's unbelievable that he continued to attempt to beat the system.
I believe test during the past had been ignored.

Stop horsing around.

With a circus-like atmosphere at Mets camp becoming more Barnum & Bailey by the day, manager Terry Collins wants his team to take a more businesslike approach.

After Noah Syndergaard and Yoenis Cespedes rode on horseback Tuesday across the team’s spring-training complex, Collins said he spoke to players about putting the focus on the upcoming season.

“The fun time is over, it’s time to get ready for baseball,” Collins said.

Syndergaard and Cespedes’ horse ride came after a week in which Cespedes grabbed the spotlight by arriving in six different fancy vehicles, which exceeded $1 million in total value. Cespedes also recently paid $7,000 for a 270-pound pig at a nearby county fair.

Syndergaard took credit for the horseback arrival, saying he came up with the idea recently and pitched it to Cespedes, who owns horses on a ranch in Vero Beach.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Thursday that Andrelton Simmons has "a little arm issue."
Simmons won't appear at shortstop for the Angels in their next couple of Cactus League games, but he should be able to DH. This doesn't sound like anything to be worried about. The two-time Gold Glove Award winner was acquired from Atlanta back in November.

If even a little bit of Simmons' defense is deteriorated because of any arm issues, no matter how little, then that's a big problem for a team that just gave away what was basically their farm system for him.

Yeah, Newcomb and Ellis were their top 2 prospects. That trade looks like a perfect fit for the Braves. And supposedly Inciarte (Miller trade) saved more runs on defense than Simmons did last year. Simmons' OPS+ was only 86 last year and 85 for his career. Aybar was only 82 last year, but that was an outliar - He was over 100 3 of the previous 4 years.

Expected an extension to eventually happen but Washington looks to contend for many years with Strasburg locked up.

Dries up some of the already barren pitching class in FA this winter. We could take advantage by offering up Teheran in a trade during FA.

Hell of an owner!!!

The Los Angeles Angels badly wanted to sign Albert Pujols back in 2011, but it appears to have been owner Arte Moreno that drove the pursuit.

Jon Heyman wrote the following in his most recent column:

"Story heard about the Albert Pujols deal: The Angels were at $160 million, when Arte Moreno went to $200 million on a phone call with agent Dan Lozano. And when Lozano told him he couldn’t have an answer for him at this time because he hadn’t spoken to Pujols, Moreno abruptly bumped it to $240 million. Then Lozano gave him his answer: Yes," Heyman relayed.

In 2,799 plate appearances with the Angels, Pujols has hit .263/.325/.471 with 129 home runs. http://baseball.realgm.com/wiretap/45549/Arte-Moreno-Increased-2011-Offer-To-Albert-Pujols-By-$80M-Over-Phone

Former Braves left fielder Hector Olivera was placed on unconditional release waivers by the Padres, who will release him when he clears waivers later this week and will be responsible for the remainder of the $62.5 million, six-year contract. http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/baseball/olivera-set-for-unconditional-release-with-padres/nsDTF/

Man, I really wanted to believe that Olivares could make that trade look good for us in hindsight. But his behavior (and subsequent arrest) were simply too much for anyone to look past.

In a single foul swoop he's likely ended any chance he'll ever have to make a mark in MLB. And limiting the opportunities for his family moving forward.

Kudos to the Braves for cutting bait and managing to get any type of benefit in his exodus.

Hope Hector learns from his mistake and gets his life back in order. If he doesn't get picked up by another team...I could see him being forced out of the country soon. I'm pretty sure he was on a work-visa only in this country. I know he defected from Cuba, meaning he'd likely be sent back to Haiti and DR to live...

What a waste.

Congrats to former Braves Jason Heyward, David Ross and Eric Hinkskie on winning a World Series. 108 no more, Cubs streak is broke. Good to see Ross retire on a good note. We should hire Theo Epstein, he could end our 21 year drought.

Yankees were asking for Inciarte and Folty for Mccan at the deadline. I'd like to think that Coppy just started laughing and hung up the phone at that insult of an offer.
