Pads give him 10/300. I think that contract is going to bite them in the ass in a few years, maybe less than five years.

It's monopoly money. If I'm their GM, I'd have a panic attack every time he twists an ankle - no matter what kind of insurance they have. But Manny is an absurdly talented 2-way player who consistently.... doesn't run when he hits easy grounders. Will he get frustraded hitting in a pitcher's park? Baltimore was definitely a hitter's park.

Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports that the Giants have discussed a 10-year deal with free agent outfielder Bryce Harper.

It was previously believed that the Giants only had interest in Harper on a short-term pact, whereas a 10-year offer would presumably put them right in the running with the Phillies, who have long been viewed as the favorite. Giants CEO Larry Baer and new team president Farhan Zaidi flew to Las Vegas on Tuesday to meet with Harper and his agent, Scott Boras. It was the second such meeting between the two parties. Harper, 26, is likely going to try to top the 10-year, $300 million mega deal that Manny Machado signed last week with the Padres. The Dodgers are also thought to be in the mix for Harper to some degree.

ESPN sources are reporting that Harper will finalize a deal with the Phillies, tomorrow or over the weekend.

Do those kind of contracts ever really work out? I doubt this one will. And it does seem lame to me that he'd go to a division rival after the Nationals fans cheered for him year after year. Of course, I'm saying that after wishing the Braves would have signed him.

Doesn't make sense to me, that he and Boras wanted 30-40 mill per, and got 25.3 per. :lol:

Machado 30 per, Arenado 32.5 per

Trout agrees to 12yr/$430 deal to stay with the Angles.

I'm shocked, not at the money we knew he'd get 400. I'm shocked that he stayed there. Pujols deal has 3 years left, plus 33 yr old J Up, Ohtani out this year, 23rd ranked farm system. He's been to the playoffs once in 7 seasons. They have minimal options to get better.

Is he just grabbing 400 now before the rumored strike next season?

I believe he had Tommy John. Don't know if he'd be back in May. Their farm system has risen from 19 to 9, going into 2019.
