So, what's out there via trade at the SS position?

So, I read that we are more likely to upgrade the SS position via trade then I look around and see little to nothing really worth trading anything for at the SS position.

I don't see anything out there worth trading for other than Tuli from the Rockies.

There isn't much out there. I think our best hope is that the Angels win the Jose Reyes contest and make Erick Aybar available for cheap (he becomes a free agent after the 2012 season). Braves aren't going to overpay for any person to play shortstop this season and odds are they'll let the market develop and then sign whoever is left. There's also a likely chance that Pastornicky will be our best option by the time spring training rolls around. Between Pastornicky and Andrelton Simmons, the Braves have good shortstop prospects. The Braves are ONLY looking for a one-year stop-gap at the SS position and are not going to sign anybody to a multi-year contract or trade for one.

You only look truly ignorant mentioning trading for Troy Tulowitzki in every post of yours. There is NO CHANCE that will happen. The Rockies aren't shopping him and the Braves aren't trading for him. This isn't fantasy baseball or MLB The Show. Give it up.

How can someone look ignorant for a opinion or wish? You show your true ignorance when you don't know the true meaning of words you decide to use. The correct word would be it's not feasible or realistic that we would ever be able to get such a deal done. Your only smart enough to effectively ridicule someone else's opinions or wishes in your own little meager world.

I apologize for my ignorant comment.

Meanwhile, Fredi was on a radio show the other night and said that the Braves development scouts are saying that Pastornicky is ready for the big leagues and that he'll hit at a major league level, but the defense will be more wait and see. It's sounding like unless the Braves can agree to a one-year deal with Alex Gonzalez, Pastornicky will be manning shortstop next season.

Tyler Pastornicky looks like a sure thing, but going into the season with a rookie at SS does concern me, because my expectations as a realist are very low. Is he going to win rookie of the year? On the bright side, I like his speed, and what he'll possibly do in the future.

Gonzo had 12 errors and Uggla lead the team with 15. Pastornicky's fielding problems is a big concern and he'll most likely have over 20+ errors if he starts in the big leagues.

I think best case scenario we could expect a Darwin Barney like rookie season out of Tyler this season. If they do plan to go with him, I think re-signing Jack Wilson to a 1 year, $1 million contract would probably be in the cards just in case Pastornicky struggles to make the adjustment to the big leagues and/or struggles defensively, as Wilson could be a late innings defensive replacement.

Looks like with Wilson and Gonzalez gone, either we go with a cheap Vet for 1 year, or we take a shot with Pastornicky. I say let the young kid give it a go. Keep Simmons down in the minors to continue to improve and whichever is better in a couple years, go with him. But I trust our system to know if Pastornicky is ready, and if they feel he can do it, then let him try.
